FOREST OFFICIALS FACE CHARGE;

Two forest officials who have served in the district are facing charges of misdeed.

The forest minister Mr.Nagamarapalli yesterday told in the assembly during question hour that two DFOs Mr.Yadav and Mr.Srivatsav, served at Madikeri and Virajpet are facing different charges.

Mr.Yadav is accused of allowing felling of trees by breaking rules. Mr.Srivatsav faces charges of auctioning and disposing of trees from the stock by flouting rules and regulations.

Replying to the questions put forth by MLA Mr.K.G.Bopaiah, the minister disclosed that various schemes are underway to develop and protect National park and depleting forests in the district. He also said that a committee is formed to look into the regularization of encroachments.

CPM RED FLAG IS NOT NAXALITE;

The leader of the CPM Red Flag in Kodagu, Mr.Nirvanappa told this correspondent that his party is falsely linked to Naxalite movement.

Nirvanappa, who was once thwarted by police for his revolutionary activities way back in 2000 said that he is fighting for the cause of poor through peaceful means. The police intelligence wings are working on his background after the opposition leaders in the assembly suspected Naxalite movement in the district. Nirvanappa has around 150 supporters who attended a CPM Red Flag conference at Andhrapradesh recently.

While the Communist party has around 36 wings in the nation, the Red Flag wing is considered by the government as a violent one.
