CULTIVATE COURAGE TO DEFEND THE NATION-DR. A.P.J ABDUL KALAM

Courage to defend the Nation, courage to innovate, courage to invent and courage to overcome the sufferings and to succeed, are indeed the traits that led to the growth of human civilizations. As human beings we may get into a problem But we shouldn’t get defeated. We should find out ways of converting this very problem to our advantage through courage said Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam, ,the President of India here.

Lights our heart with courage, radiates to the nation, devotion, spread the message of sacrifice, and ignites confidence upon our Nation-Dr. Abdul Kalam added.He quated Field Marshal Manekshaw. Sir C.V.Raman who have achieved in different fields through courage. One should come out of the inferiority complex to develop confidence and dedication- he urged.

He was addressing the mammoth gathering at Field Marshal Cariappa College grounds On the occasion of the Birth centenary celebrations of Late General K.S.Thimmaiah organized by Federation of all Kodava Samajas.

Speaking about the great late General he said ”Gen. Thimmaiah with all the great honours he received felt that the biggest honour was love of his officers and men and the trust of the country as its soldier. He also said “We should always remember that because of the indomitable leadership of Gen. Thimmaiah attempting out of the box innovative solutions, we have protected LEH and LaADAKH during 1948.He was the role model for all the soldiers particularly the officers, JCOs and jawans serving in the Indian Army and the youth of the Nation.

While answering several questions asked by some selected students from Madikeri Gen.Thimmaiah school and Ponnampet Sai Shankar Trust Dr. Kalam explained about the present situation in the country and how the changes should be made. Regarding question about environment protection he called the each youth to grow minimum of 5 trees to protect the environment. When asked about the slowness in scientific researches and brain drain Dr. Kalam clarified that we cannot avoid brain drain. There’s is no harm in it. However, the education system should be changed. Instead of carrying large number of books in primary schools we should give priority to creativity .The students should be able to use internet for references. About corruption and parliamentary misbehaviors he said Societies develop through families. It is an essential thing to teach moral science in schools to get the good human beings. When asked about his love for any particular person he said I just like good human beings.

Speaking on the occasion after releasing the postal cover and stamp of Gen. Thimmaiah the state Governor Mr. T.N.,Chaturvedi remembered the services of the Late Gen. K.S. Thimmaiah to the Ntion.

The Chief Minister Mr.H.D.Kumaraswamy after releasing the souvenir said the imparity during the previous years might have created the separatism movement in Kodagu.The Govt. has the obligation of developing Kodagu which is one of the proud district of Karnataka. He also appreciated the great service rendered by Kodagu people through the defense services and he assured protecting the Kodava culture in the state .Deputy Chief Minister Mr.B.S.Yediyurappa speaking on the occasion assured converting the Gen.Thimmaiah’s house as memorial and also sanctioning of technical sports centre at Balugodu Village through the All Kodava federation.

B.A.Nanaiah, the president of the federation of Kodava Samajas welcomed the gathering. Cultuaral programmes by local associations, Air Devil show by Air force, Bike Devil show by MEG were the attractions of the day. Prof. Nanjunda, G.Chidvilas and Dati Pooviah coopered programmes in English, Kannada and Kodava languages. MrM.N..Suresh Chengappa, the Madikeri Kodava Samaj president conducted vote of thanks. Ramachandregowda the Kodagu District incharge minister , Miren Chengappa, the daughter of late Gen. Thimmaiah, Meera Dat, the Post master general, Karnataka, Siol, DGP, Air Chief Marshal S.P.Thyagi were present.
