THE NEGLECTED NETHAJI VANA

Madikeri April 9

The Nthaji vana a public garden has been completely neglected by the Town Panchayath, Somwarpet. The garden was attracting the local people as well as tourists wih colourful flowers,,green grass ,the beautiful pond with lotus flowers. The garden is situated on Somwarpet-Shanivarsanthe state high way. During the previous Mandala Panchayath ruling when Ashok was the president he had developed it with personal interest. He had maintained it through Mandala Panchayath administration.

The present town Panchayath is least bothered even to turn to that side. The president and members did not consider the appeal by the local residents to improve and maintain the garden.. now the people have to search the garden spot as it is fully covered with shrubs. the pond is filled with mud and covered. The sitting stones and cement seats are damaged and some seats are stolen. The Panchayath is getting crores of Rupees from various heads from the Govt.. This year the Panchayath is enjoying with a special extra grant of Rs.50 lakh. However, no body is interested to deviate some funds to repair the garden and to maintain it. People have demanded to give priority for this work,
