HOSPITAL HOUSES DATE LAPSED MEDICINE;Madikeri April 17 The primary hospital at Shirangala was found having stock of lapsed medicines worth several thousands. During his lightning visit to the hospital on Saturday, the Zilla Panchayath health committee chairman V.P.Shashidar discovered that the hospital authorities were prescribing out dated medicines to patients. While the doctor had left the place after duty at 5 pm, Shashidar found such medicines even on his table. The medicines were seized in the presence of public. He warned the staff that suitable action would be initiated against the erring officials through Zilla panchayath. He also found the hospital at Hebbale closed before 4.30 by the staff nurse. The doctor was on leave. The nurse was called to the hospital and warned to keep the hospital open till 5 pm. ZP member Shashidhar inspecting the hospital TUSKAR DAMAGES HOUSE;A tusker which had killed a person in a house at Avaregunda village near Siddapur during last May has again attacked the same house on Saturday, causing panic and loss. In a complaint to the forest department, Gram Panchayath member Saroja has said that the house was attacked at 1 A.M as the house wife Kusuma came out of the house with a torch to inspect an unusual sound. She was shell shocked as the light fell on the elephant and the latter charged at her. While she could escape, the house was damaged. The house owner Somanna was killed at the spot during last year by the same elephant, according to family sources. They have alleged that the forest department has been ignoring their appeal to check the elephant that has been terrorizing people in the area quite often. ARRESTED FOR ATTACK;A Tribe, Mani was arrested by Shanivarsanthe police on charges of chopping of the hand of his wife. According to police, Mani chopped off the left hand of his wife Bhagya during February this year for a simple reason that she did not give money to buy arrack. Attcking his sister Gowramma later, the accused had absconded. He was arrested at Bennebetta near Shanivarsanthe on Saturday and remanded to judicial custody. |
