MLA ALLEGES NEGLECT OF YOUTH SERVICE;

Madikeri February 11

MLA K.G.Bopaiah has regretted that the Youth Service department is being neglected in the district and sports activities are suffering as a result.

He was addressing the gathering here after inaugurating the state level flood light volleyball tournament. The two-day tournament was sponsored by Santosh Yuvaka sanga and teams from all over the state, also from kerala are taking part. He bombarded the government and said that the department is receiving only 30 lakh a year for the activities. Many youth organizations in the district are winding up due to non co-operation by the government, he said. Yet the sports activities in the district are continuing due to the love people have towards sport, he said.

Presiding over the function, journalist G.Chidvilas opined that sports is a sign post for love, faith, determination and peace. A successful sports person will also be successful in the society, he said.

Chief guests, youth service officer Biddappa, LIC manager V.Jayanth, H.R.Muthappa and others spoke on the occasion. Inaugural matches were played between Karnataka Volley ball federation, Chennai Integrar factory , sports hostel and ASC teams.

LABOURERS STAGE PROTEST;

Estate workers at Siddapur took out a procession and demanded permanent job and other facilities in the estates.

Led by the CITU the protestors’ gheraoed the BBTC office and burnt the effigy of the manager. Manager Wilson assured the protestors to forward their demands to head office. He took time to organize water and other minor facilities. Protestors withdrew after his assurance.

MISTY HILLS EXPANDS SERVICE;

The newly formed roatary Misty Hills has expanded its jurisdiction by opening more subsidiary clubs in rural areas.

President B.G.Anantha Shayana in a press release stated that they have opened four interact clubs and one Rotary community core unit.

Interact club with an intention to develop leadership qualities was opened at Napoklu., Galibeedu, madikeri and Bhagamandala. Whereas, a Rotary community core was opened at Bhagamandala. The club is providing free computer course to poor children and is involved in many such activities.
