HOCKEY ACADEMY IN KODAGU;

International hockey player Baleyada Poonacha stated that he would start a hockey Academy in Kodagu.

Addressing the inaugural function of the Sports meet organized by the Journalists association here, he stated that Kodagu has given him a good start in hockey and he will return the gratitude by opening a hockey academy. He regretted that Kodagu is now lacking in producing players of national and International repute and said that more encouragement is required in this field.

Athlete Ashwini Nachappa inaugurated the sports meet by lighting the lamp and opined that sports should thrive further in Kodagu .She appreciated the venture by the journalists in organizing the sports meet. Addressing the gathering, Karnataka Maadyama Academy member G.Rajendra stated that the newspapers are capable of withstanding the onslaughts of IT based media. He flayed the publicity mongers in the name of social workers who try to exploit media.

Deputy Commissioner Subodh Yadav expressed happiness in meeting Ashwini nachappa and said that Ashwini and P.T.Usha were inspiring him during his college days to take to sports.

Various sport activities were conducted to public and families of the journalists.

Journalists association has organized the sports meet to celebrate its 25th year. T.P.ramesh, H.T.Anil and others addressed the gathering. President Shashidar presided over.

PLANTER ELECTROCUTED;

A planter was electrocuted in South Kodagu yesterday in his estate in South Kodagu.

Adengada Bopanna alias Vikas was handling a pipe to water and it came into contact with a live wire running from a pole.

He leaves wife and two children.
