GOVERNMENT NODS FOR 11.77 CRORE PROJECT FOR CMC;

Madikeri February 14

The state government has okayed an 11.77 crore project to develop Madikeri, said the vice president of City municipal Council, T.M.Aiyappa.

Addressing the meeting held here yesterday, he stated that the proposal now awaits nod from the central government. State and central governments would fund the action plan for development jointly. While state has to bear 40%, center will bear 60%.

The members passed another project of rupees four crore by the World bank. The commissioner said that rupees 54 lakh would be spent on drinking water, 60 lakh for shifting the private bustand, drainage system etc under this project. Main roads in the town will also be converted into cement ones, the commissioner said.

Meeting witnessed pandemonious situation, as usual on many occasions.member Chummi Devaiah told the members to leave self prestiage and discuss about the development and reminded them that the CMC committee might any day get dissolved since a new government has come to power.

TALACAUVERY COMMITTEE COMES INTO EXISTENCE;

A new committee was formed yesterday to manage the affairs of the rejuvenation of Talacauvery – Bhagamandala temples.

The meeting chaired by the Deputy Commissioner elected MLA K.G.Bopaiah as working president, Maatanda Monnappa as president, G.Rajendra as general secretary, Sunil Subramani, Kambiranda Nanjappa and H.B.Jayamma as secretaries were appointed. Peoples representatives were elected as advisors. Suresh Chengappa has become the treasurer. Other committees were also formed during the meeting.

The meeting decided to speed up the works going on in the twin temple towns at a cost of rupees 10.7 crore. The Deputy Commissioner said that the two temples, Agastyeshwara and Ganapathy would be ready in a short period.

KSP TEAM CLINCHES VOLLEY BALL TROPHY;

Karanataka state Police team clinched the state level volley ball trophy here by defeating MBT team from Kerala in a breath taking finals.

KSP bagged a cash prize of rupees 25 thousand and MBT received rupees 15 thousand. ASP team received rupees five thousand for third best place.

Air marshal ( Rtd.) K.C.Nanda Cariappa and MLA K.G.Bopaiah distributed prizes.

President of the Santosh Youth Association, H.M.Nandakumar presided over the function.

KSP team which won medals inthe state level volley ball tournament

Rotary Misty Hills honpured Y.T.Ganapathy, an agriculturist, Dinesh Kukkujadka, a cartoonist and Ashok, ZP president during the official visit of Governor lakshminarayan. Assistant governor Kumari devaiah, president B.G.Anantha shayana and others were also present.
