MAN EATER CLAIMSA PERSON;Madikeri January 11, 2006 A man-eater which was eating cows and live stock so far has claimed the life of a old man in South Kodagu. A tribe, Devappa, 65 was eaten by a man-eater day before yesterday at Palleri village in Nagarahole national Park range. According to forest officials, Devappa who had gone out was missing and his remains were found near a stream yesterday. Man-eater has left only head and a leg un eaten. Villagers have appealed to forest department to protect their lives from the attack by man-eater. FAMILY BOND DECREASING;Writer Prema Bhat told that the increase in the financial status of a woman in the society is decreasing family bond. Honouring a writer Vijaya Vishnu Bhat at Sunticoppa near here yesterday she urged the need to rejuvenate the dying values in the society. Calling upon parents to imbibe the habit of reading stories in the minds of the children, she stressed the need to develop love towards nation and its values. She was addressing the function organized by the Kannada sahitya Parishadh on the occasion of lecture in connection with Kodagina Gowramma Datti Upanyasa. Addressing the gathering, Parishad president T.P.Ramesh called upon the people to establish endowment funds to take up more cultural activities. Taluk president J.C.rajshekar, B.A.Shamshuddin and others were present. BRAHMAKUMARIS TO OBSERVE JAN 18 AS PEACE DAY;Brahmakumari Eshwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya will observe January 18 as World peace day. The centre in charge, Pranesh told scribes here that over twenty thousand devotees will throng Mountu Abu on the said day and dwell in meditation the whole day. 25 delegates from kodagu will also take part in meditation he said. Meanwhile, whole day meditation would be conducted in all centres all over the world, he said. Apart from that, the centres are regularly conducting mind managenet course to students, women, officials, teachers and others on regular basis, he explained. B.G.Anantha shayana, who spoke on the occasion, said that there is need to identify the Supreme power that is operating the whole Universe. Organizations inspiring the individuals towards spiritual knowledge need people’s support, he opined. President of the press club,H.T.Anil also spoke on the occasion. |
