STATE POLITICS REFLECTS ON DISTRICT;

Madikeri January 14, 2006

The political turmoil in the state politics is creating enough heat and dust in Kodagu political circles.

Congress winning majority seats in Zilla and Taluk Panchayath elections is noticing a set back to snatch the president and vice presidents post as BJP and JDS might join hands. Hectic activities are going on to hold the Zilla Panchayath reign at Madikeri and Taluk Panchayath reign at Madikeri and Virajpet. Congress has absolute majority to rule Taluk panchayath at Somwarpet.

Meanwhile BJP MLA Basavaraju representing Viarajpet reserve constituency has rushed to Bangalore. His supporters are sure that Basavaraju will become a minister in case the congress government is catapulted by BJP and JDs partnership. K.G.Bopaiah, another MLA from Madikeri constituency has also gone to Bangalore as his RSS followers are trying to pressurize the party to give him a berth in the ministry. The name of MLC Arun Machaiah, joining JDs recently is making rounds in the ministers list.
