JAIL BREAK AT MADIKERI;Madikeri January 15Two inmates of district jail today made a futile attempt to escape from jail and got caught by the sleuths. A murder accused T.V.harish and car lifter Kumar climbed the twenty feet high wall with the help of a rope and escaped around 6.30 in the morning. An inmate Nandish who was released recently let a long rope down from top and tied the other end of it to an electric pole atop. The under trials who were running were intercepted by the jail guards who tried to over power them. People inside the town who were watching the chase assisted the jail authorities. A jail assistant Chandra Shekar was beaten by an accused. However, they were caught and taken to police station. Police registered an attempt to escape case and remanded them to judicial custody. Jailer Thimmaiah who is in charge of the superintendent, who was on leave said that no suspension would be made as the jail assistatants could capture the escapees. The two accused would be sent to Mysore jail, he said. “Anti-people policy by Forest Dept.”Madikeri Jan15: K.G Bopaiah has accused the forest department in Kodagu of following anti-people politics and of preventing development activities along forest borders in remote areas.Speaking to the party members at a victory ceremony held at lower Kodava Samaj hall here on Friday K.G Bopaiah MLA of Madikeri urged the department to change its attitude and be supportive to public programmes that will held the general public. He said the fresh department prevented the elected representatives to take up development works along forest borders near Karike and their surrounding areas. He then expressed ire over the proposal to declare Pushpagiri to Bramhagiri hills as a wildlife area and referred this to some fake environmentalists. Bopaiah vowed to not allow this to happen; it affected large number of general public who live along the area. He accused some fake environmentalists being actively present in order to bag foreign funds. He cautioned government that people may have to take to guns if they prevent people from taking up development works. party leaders felicitated all the newly elected ZP and TP candidates. Rs. 2Cr grant for Mini-Vidhana Souda.“The state government has agreed to grant Rs2 crores for the construction of a Mini Vidhana Souda in Virajpet,”said HD Basavaraju MLA of Virajpet. Speaking at the annual day celebration of Govt. PU College here on Friday he said that the days of bad results in Govt. PU College are gone. Appreciating the institution for its results the MLA said that he is working towards providing necessary funds for the construction of extra classrooms for the PU College. He then informed about the contributions of Rs. 34 Lakhs from Venkaiah Naidu –MP. “Illiterate politician is always better than a clever corrupt official,” said AC Cariappa and newly elected TP member. Addressing the gathering Cariappa urged the management of educational institutions to not invite political leaders as guests as they will not have anything to talk students. He then stressed on teaching English language from the 1St Standard of Govt. schools so as to keep rural students abreast of the developing changes and be ready for competition with their urban counterparts. Bose Devaiah, raghu Nanaiah, Ramachandra Upadyaya and others spoke on the occasion. |
