PASSING OUT CEREMONY HELD;Madikeri January 16, 2006 Passing out ceremony of police trainees was held here today. Inspector general of police, Hayath of Karavali pade addressed the gathering after receiving guard of honour from the fourth team of trainees. I.G Hayath called upon the constables to hold high the prestige of Police and said that they should work with sincerity to erase the bad image the department carries now. He cautioned them that though law supports policing, it does not support them behaving like beasts. You should transform into a friend of the society and not as a hooligan, he advised. Superintendent of police Devjyothi ray welcomed the gathering and said that 95 trainees from Koppal and Bagalkot were trained in the centre. DYsP halesh naik proposed vote of thanks. POET DESCRIBES SUVARNA KARNATAKA MISSION A HOAX;Poet and litterateur Kaiyyara Kinjanna Rai today termed the Suvarna Karnataka slogan by the state government as a simple hoax and said that nothing much is being done to protect Kannada. He stated that though Kasaragodu verymuch belongs to Karnataka, government could not rectify the problem even after fifty years. He mentioned that the mahajan report clearly states that kasaragod is a part of Karnataka. He was speaking after inaugurating the Bharatisuta Samsmarana Dina at Kavery Kalakshetra today. Kannada sahitya Parishath president T.P.Ramesh spoke about the greatness of the writer bharatisuta who had authored more than 60 books during his life time. One of his story ‘edakallu Guddadamele” was made into a successful Kannada film. Kinjanna Rai and wife of late Bharatisuta, Smt.Nagaveni were felicitated during the function. M.Mahabaleshwara Bhat presided over the function. Chairman of the kannada Pustaka pradikara, S.G.Siddaramaiah was the chief guest. Secretary B.A.Shamshuddin welcomed the gathering.Poornima prop[osed vote of thanks. Muneer Ahmad compered the programme. Earlier main road of Hakattur and Biligeri was named after Bharatisuta. Gram Panchayath president H.C.Savitri unveiled the name board. CEO Sundar Naik was the chief guest. Day long sessions and a cultural programme in the evening was held. Valedictory function was addressed by writer Edurkala shankara narayana Bhat. G.Chidvilas welcomed the gathering. Sampath Kumar compered and Chandrashekara Mallorahatti proposed vote of thanks.
