CULTURAL EXCHANGE TO STRENGTHEN BOND;Madikeri January 26, 2006 Cultural exchange will strengthen the bond, said G.Chidvilas. Inaugurating a National cultural exchange programme at Cauvery womens college yesterday he said that culture is the main stay of a society while art forms represent the culture. Art and culture takes a human being beyond the limits of religion and caste, he explained. He recalled the healing power of music that can influence even plants. NSS Zonal Deputy advisor Dr.H.S.Suresh stated that the Indian strength is its culture. Principal Prof Sarojini presided over the function. Dr.ganapathy Gowda and other lecturers were present on the dais. Students from Orissa, Tamilnadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Mumbai Goa and other places performed cultural programmes representing their states. SELECTED FOR RURAL HOCKEY;Madikeri Jan.26 A student from Gonicoppa has been selected to play National level rural hockey at Haryana. The Lions School, Gonicoppal has said that the tenth standard student Monica Kaveramma will play in the state team at All India Rural Sports meet to be held between second and fifth February at Haryana, Bhivani. DISTRICT LEVEL KANNADA SAMMELAN AT KODAGU;Madikeri Jan.26 President of the District Kannada Sahitya Parishath, T.P.Ramesh has said that a district level sammelan would be held here by March. Addressing a seminar at Field Marshal cariappa college here he said that the Sammelan would be conducted in a grand scale, after a gap of many years. Lecturer Ramprasadh unfurled the one thousand year history of Kannada starting from Pampa to Kuvempu. Presiding over the seminar, Dr.Pushpa Kuttanna regretted that the younger generation is hesitating to show responsibility in any field. Dr.Jayanthi welcomed the gathering. RANI, APPACHU FOR VIRAJPET TP;Madikeri Jan.26 BJP and JDs groups were humiliated as congress with little majority forged the vice presidents post in the election held for Virajpet taluk panchayath. However presidents post went to the BJP reserve candidate. Rani was declared president and Mollera Sada Appachu as vice president after a high drama prevailed in the Panchayath premises. BJP which has won 8 seats in the election was hopeful of retaining both the seats with the support of JDs / though the state politics has both the parties honeymooning together, scenario in Kodagu differed at the eleventh hour due to personal issues. MISUE OF FUNDS IN DUBARE TOURISM CENTRE;Madikeri Jan. 26 The Dubare tourism centre near Kushalnagar has been recently developed by the State Jungle lodge and resorts corporation. After the improvement daily elephant riding, boating in river Cauvery and other facilities were provided with the help of the amount released by the tourism department. Tourists in large number are visiting and enjoying their trip to Dubare. Although the approach road from Kushalnagar and Madikeri has not been repaired or improved. the tourists from various parts of the state, and Nation and even the foreign visitors are also seen regularly. The jungle Lodge and Resorts Corporation , had appointed Dr. B.H.Shivaram, to supervise the resort including the elephant camp He was posted on 2003 March 15th. He had been empowered to maintain the camp and also to collect charges from the tourisrts.Since the camp started . Shivaram had just remitted Rs. 500 to the Govt. and other collection amount has not been remitted so for. Surprisingly Dr. shivaram is absconding after the corporation officials expressed their doubt about the maintenance of proper account and the corporation officials have given written complaint to the police. The Siddapur Police S.I. Ramareddy has registered a case under IPC section 403 and 406 for cheating and misuse of power .special police team has been formed to thoroughly investigate the misappropriation details.
