LIFER FOR MURDERER;Madikeri January 31, 2006 A person killing a lady was given life sentence by the fast track court at Virajpet. Raghu of Lakkunda village near Kutta had brutally murdered a widow, Prema during 2003. Prema was brutally done to death with an axe during day time while she was cleaning the vessels in front of her house. According to police, Raghu was forcing the woman to marry him and her refusal brought the misery. TEMPLE COMMITTEES FORMED;The Deputy commissioner Subodh yadav has formed committees to manage different temples in Kodagu. Temples falling under Dharmica Datti Nidhi will now have nine member committee including representatives of Sc, women, priests and general. Committees are formed to about six temples. BANGALORE TEAM CLINCHES STATE LEVEL VOLLEY BALL TROPHY;The President - 6 team of Bangalore clinched the Prakruthi volley ball trophy played at Kudige near Kushalnagar. State police team from KSRP received the runners up trophy. The three-day flood light volleyball was held under the auspices of Golden Eagle Friends Association.LIC team from Bangalore received the third place while Sangam Jaycees team, Kudige received the fourth place. Association president P.K.Devaiah, GP vice president Manu and Kumari Devaiah distributed the prizes. MLA B.A.Jeevijaya addressed the valedictory function .ZP member Rajarao presided over the function. Treasurer Nandakumar welcomed the gathering. K.S.Peter delivered running commentary. Whereas, Congress has won 15 seats out of 19 at Gonicoppal. JDs 3 and BJP one. |
