The girls going to their toilets fall unconscious here. They behave strangely and run towards the boys’ toilet and shout, “my name is Pramila. You are all urinating upon me. Stop this”.

The teachers in the Hakattur primary school near Madikeri have been experiencing this kind of an incident and behavior being repeated by girl students since about ten years. Head masters are aware of it. Education department is aware of it. However, none cares for it.

Lethargic attitude from the concerned has led the public to take some action. Three girls repeated the same action between this 15th and 17th. A Muslim priest carried out a pooja yesterday and has promised that such incident will not recur for another 14 years.

While a section says that the toilet might have been built on a muslims samadhi, others questions why the girls are mentioning the name of a Hindu , Parimala.

The villagers express unhappiness over the silence by the education department. They complain that the victim students were taken to neither doctors nor psychiatrists.

50 LAKHS FOR VIRAJPET DEVELOPMENT;

MLA Basavaraju has said that the government has sanctioned rupees fifty lakhs for the development of Virajpet.

Basavaraju disclosed here that Deputy chief Minister has announced this assistance honoring his appeal.

He has also said that Food and Civil supplies, water supplies minister Govinda Kharajola has assured to implement different schemes and projects at a cost of rupees two crores. The works will be undertaken on priority basis, he said.

Meanwhile he disclosed that a delegation has met ministers Basavaraju Horatti and D.H.Shankara Murthy and appealed to open a court and engineering college at Ponnampet.

CNC SITS ON DHARNA;

The Codava national Conference held a protest yesterday on the occasion of the World racial apathy day.

Led by the CNC secretary general N.U.Nachappa, the members sat on dharna in Fort premises and alleged that the government is looking down the demands of Kodavas.

CULTURAL DEGRADE;

The Zilla Panchayath member M.K.Nanjappa has accused Taluk Panchayath member Addanda Cariappa of misusing Kodava attire.

In a press release, he has said that Cariappa met Chief Minister Kumar Swamy in Bangalore attired in Kodava traditional dress and submitted memorandum on behalf of Kodava community, recently. Nanjappa questioned the authority of Cariappa to represent the community and appealed to Kodava Samajas not to allow misuse of dress and the name of the community.
