FLOWER SHOW FROM APRIL 27;Madikeri April 6, 2007 A three day flower show would be organized around the hot spot of tourists, Rajas seat at Madikeri from April 27th. It was decided in a meeting held at Rajas seat yesterday under the chairmanship of the deputy commissioner, Subodh Yadav. In the meeting attended by the Rajas development committee, it was also decided to change the usual venue of flower show from Rajas seat to Gandhi Maidan. This decision was taken as members opined that the lawns and natural surroundings would be disturbed by holding flower show inside Rajas seat. The visitors will be charged rupees five per head. DC stated that stalls other than flowers and agriculture related items can also be put up to attract the visitors. Meanwhile the deputy director of horticulture, Medappa, who was present in the meeting, said that the musical fountain being erected at Rajas Seat would be ready before the flower show. Musical fountain is erected at a cost of rupees nineteen lakh. The DC also said that the adjacent government lands around rajas seat would be taken over to develop it as tourist spot. Rajas seat would be developed more by utilizing the fund being collected in the form of entry tickets. The horticulture officer disclosed that rupees 43 thousand was collected in the form of tickets since March 17th. ELEVEN MORE ARRESTED AT VIRAJPET;Eleven more persons are arrested in connection with the violence which broke out at Virajpet on this third. According to police, more arrests are made after fresh complaints were filed by people and police concerning attacks and looting. Earlier fifteen persons were arrested in this connection. The arrestedare sent to judicial custody till seventeenth. |
