KODAGU-IIIrd PLACE IN FINANCIAL PARTICIPATION

The financial Participation of bankers and financial institutions for the implementation of overall developmental projects by the Govt. Has achieved remarkable goal in kodagu District. Kodagu has occupied a third place in Karnataka after Gulbarga and Koppal districts The Reserve Bank of India General Manager V. Vasanthan appreciated the development. He was speaking in a function arranged by Madikeri corporation lead Bank at Madikeri.

The participation schemes are successful. However the implementation should be done with distribution of loans and successful completion of the supporting projects like the engagement of brides and bridegrooms pending for marriage- he analyzed.

Instead of releasing loans to the limited higher class it is better to distribute it to large number of needy persons depending on their transactions.. This will result in the improvement of financial status in General and it also reduces the number of families comes under BPL list he explained. Devaki Muthukrishnan, the reserve bank regional director also appreciated the effort by the corporation Lead bank. She gave an example of the best performance of a self help group at Koppal kushtagi formed by the “Devadasis”

KODAGU PEOPLE BETTER TO CHOOSE TOURIASM

Kodagu people who have bitter experience in agricultural sector can go for alternate field. They have to choose the tourism sector. The investment on this will yield best-analyzed S.S.patil,the vice chairman of tourism division of FKCCI, Bangalore.

He was speaking after inaugurating the tourism seminar at Gonikopal organized by kodagu Chamber of commerce and industry on the occasion of celebration of II annual merchants’ day.

The nature’s gift itself is abundant to attract tourism in Kodagu. The district is included along with Belur –Halebeedu, Shravanabelagola, Mysore, Shrirangapartna, Somnathapur and Shimsha. 40% increase of tourist flow is found in these districts- Patil told.

The tourism committee under FKCCI is launching programmes to promote tourism in Karnataka., Kodagu merchants should also utilize these faculties-called Patil. The FKCCI tourism committee chairman Shivashanmugam while speaking as a chief guest compared kodagu to Scotland. But he regretted the migration of original inhabitants in large number for education and employment purpose. He suggested the local youths to involve in tourism based business.

The Govt. is neglecting many proposals by the district administration for the overall development of tourism sector in Kodagu-explained G.Chidvials,. the Kodagu District Chamber of Commerce and Industry General secretary while presenting the tourism subject in the seminar. The previous Govt. had sanctioned Rs. 5 crores for the recognized tourist centres’ developments. Only Rs. 1.5 has been spent so for out of this. What happened to the remaining Rs. 3.50 crores- Chidvilas questioned.The Govt should consider the development of Kotebetta tourist centre, Golf ground, formation of helipad, railway lines, Somwarpet Subramanya road formation. Bhagamandala-Thalacuvery should be considered as pilgrim centers-he explained.

Kodagu Model Forest foundation Trustee Sherry Subbaiah suggested the tourism should be developed in such a way that it should not harm, the environment, the normal life of wild animals and it should promote cleanliness.

The Kodagu CoC president K.B.Girish Ganapathi has presided.. M.K.Nanjappa, the reception committee president, the Deputy commissioner Subodh yadav were present.
