FKCCI PROMOTES TOURISMMadikeri Feb. 4 The Federation of Chamber of Commerce and Industries has decided to promote tourism in Karnataka. A delegation is visiting to study the situations in various districts. Finally a recommendation report will be submitted to the Govt...-This was disclosed by K. Shiva Shanmugam, the tourism committee president of the FKCCI here. He has described Kodagu has got good potentiality for the tourism promotion. The good environment has created a special consideration in the world tourism map- he analised. Kodagu, Nandibetta, Makedatu and Shrirangapatna will be included in this year’s tourism projects. FKCCI will bring this to the notice of the state Govt. The Govt. had reserved Rs. 25 crores for tourism development; But after FKCCI’s request to the Dy. C.M. the budget was increased to Rs. 300 crores-he said. Karnataka has all the natural resources for the promotion of tourism. However, some basic infrastructural facilities should be provided. After collecting the localites opinions, the delegation will meet the state tourism minister and the secretary by the end of this month. MERCHANTS DAY AT GONIKOPPAL.Madikeri Feb. 4 Kodagu District chamber of Commerce and Industries has succeeded in celebrating Merchants day last year which was its own new concept in the whole country. Last year the place selected was Madikeri-the district head quarters. This year the committee has chosen Gonikoppal as the place. The date of celebration will be April 15th.This was disclosed by the Kodagu COC president Girish Ganapathi and General Secretary G. Chidvilas in a press conference here. M.K.Nanajappa, the Gonikoppal unit COC president has been chosen as the reception committee chairman. Various sports and games for the family members of 19 unit committees of C.O.C will be conducted. It also includes cultural show. They explained. Kodagu is facing grievous shortage of electricity supply. Even, the farmers and growers are severely suffering by the electric irregularities. They cannot use the pumps for irrigation purposes. Agriculture and the coffee are the main earning sources for the people in Kodagu. Due to the KPTCL and Mescoms lethargic attitude Kodagu-a Malnad district is suffering- alleged the office bearers of COC.15 days deadline is given to set right this. Otherwise serious protest form the COC will be organized-warned the office bearers.. The COC organizing secretary Jaikumar, B.N.Prakash were present. |
