200 BROAD BAND STATIONS TO BE OPEND;Madikeri February 5, 2007 Around two hundred broad band stations would be opened in the state, including seven in Kodagu, said chief general manager of BSNL, T.S.Kuppuswamy. Addressing the closing ceremony of IT and beyond festival here yesterday he said that Broad band centers will be opened at Madikeri, Somwarpet, Chennayana Kote, Siddapur, Sunticoppa in the first stage. Kuppuswamy boasted BSNL, Karnataka as standing at a height by providing 2.8 lakh internet connections, 15.5 lakh mobiles and 1.17 lakh broadband connections. Stating that IT is the key to broad band, he said that its usage is rampant at Bangalore and about 3.3 BBS connections would be increased at Bangalore. He also said that SIM card system would be simplified further and over two lakh more cards would also be distributed. BSNL has earned a profit of rupees five hundred crores last year. Among the 2700 telephone exchanges that exist in the state, around seventy percent exist in rural areas. But eighty percent of the connections are enjoyed by city dwellers he opined. MLA K.G.Bopaiah and General manager of district Telecom, Chandran, Manu Muthappa, CC Thimmaiah of Coorg technology Centre was also present. She took a liking for them and brought them home. Fear gripped as someone said that they are Fox cubs, which can not be kept at home. Finally, the cubs were handed over to the Assistant Conservator of Forests, M.M.Jaya. The forest officials let the cubs into Talacauvery reserve forest. MLC Arun Machaiah and MLA K.G.Bopaiah yesterday addressed a protest rally against erection of high tension wire through Kodagu to Kerala and said that people should unite together and fight against the ills of the society as one force. Speaking in the protest meet organized by different organizations, they stated that Kodagu is totally being neglected by governments and the silence by the people was mistaken by them Crossing a high tension line to Keral via Kodagu is an example to show how Kodagu is being exploited, they said.They called upon all the politicians to fight together, forgetting party links. HUSBAND OF FIVE LANDS IN CELL;Ramesh alias Chandregowda is a native of Bettadapura in Mysore district. He is fifty-five. But age did not stop him from one thing, i.e. marriage! Bylakuppe police on charges of cheating women sends Ramesh to judicial custody. He has married five women in dufferent places since twenty years and begot children from some of them. Nagamma of Aalana halli and Pushpa of Koppa have lodged a complaint before police, stating that he has married them separately, by lying he was a bachealor. He has also married Leelavathy from belahalli, Padma from Mullusoge and begot more than four children. Recently he has married a twenty-year-old girl Pushpa of Koppa in a temple.
