SUPPORT TO KARNATKA BANDH IN KODAGU

Madikeri Feb. 11 Although Kodagu is unaffected by the Cauvery dispute judgment, it is gaining a little momentum now.. Kodagu district Chamber of Commerce president Girish Ganapthi and General Secretary G.Chidvilas have sent a statement supporting Karnataka bandh. The Madikeri Chamber of Commerce president Navin and Jaikumar have also released a statement supporting bandh Call. However, the private Bus owners association president H.J.Ramesh has released a statement that all the private buses ply as usual on 12th. The burden of increased taxes, the inconvenient to common people are the criteria behind the decision- he clarified.

Protestors under the banner of various women organisations, Farmers associations and water consumers association joined together and blocked the road with human chain at kudige near Kushalnagar and demanded the rejection of Cauvery tribunal judgement.

The Madikeri Auto drivers and owners association have decided to participate in the protest and will not move the autos on 12th from 6 A.M. to 6 P.M. The Kushalnagar Block and Town congress have also b backed the bandh Call. The “sneha Integrated development Association has decided to drown the images of Girish karnad, Tamilnad C.M. Karunanidhi in river Cauvery at kushalnagar. The Karnataka Bandh call is supported by Idga Muslim Association ,Virajpet and the Govt. Employees association Somwarpet Unit headed by K.K.Manjunath and H.R.Girish

Meanwhile A.K.Subbiah, the advocate and Ex. M.L.C has criticized the silent attitude of the former Prime Minister H.D.Devegowda and the Chief Minister H.D.Kumaraswamy after the tribunal judgment. The neutral attitude causes doubt about the stand of the Govt. and the JDS party he opined in a press conference here. Instead of a calling bandh and protesting within the state the agitators should oppose the issue in the National capital New Delhi through blocking the M.P.s he suggested.
