VIRAJPET THALUK KANNADA CONFERENCE INAUGURATEDMadikeri Feb. 17 Virajpet thaluk kannada conference was inaugurated today by Ramachandra Gowda, the Kodagu District Incharge Minister in Thaluk grounds at Virajpet. .He spoke and opined to have a movement for the salvation of Border area problems. in Virajpet thaluk, having border places between Karnataka and Kerala. H.S.Mahadeva Prasad , the state kannada and Culture minister speaking as a Chief guest declared the sanction of Rs. 25 lakh for the Border Kannada Bhavan .This project has the aim of encouraging Kannada by training the outside other language people to learn Kannda Karnataka Govt. has the plan to establish 52 Border kannada Bhavans. This year 7 Bhavans will be completed. Including the Bhavan at Virajpet.-minister told. The Conference was prefixed to be inaugurated by the Chief Minister Kumasrswamy who did not attended. Mahadevprasad also disclosed that already Rs. 1.5 crores has been sanctioned to kodagu for building the Cultural complex at mans Compound, Madikeri. This year Rs. One crore has been released-he confirmed. The Folk art and dances should be always encouraged. The culture should be saved =- he said. The Virajpet border area is influenced by Kerala Maleyalam language. This should be gradually turned to Kannada he expressed the desire. We should teach them our language- he added. The conference was presided by the conference Chairman K.Keshava Bhat. The Thaluk kannada Parishath presidentRaghuinatha Naik done the key note address. Dr. Siddalingaiah the state kannada development authority Chairman, Madikeri M.L.A K.G.Bopaiah, the District Kannada Sahitya parishath president T.P.Ramesh., the Malur Constiuency M.L.A Krishnaiah Shetty, the Kollegal M.L.A Balaraj and others present. H.D.Basavaraju, the Virajpet M.L.A welcomed the gathering. The Cultural procession was earlier inaugurated by C.S.Arun Machiah, the M.L.C. The procession started from Mariamma temple and gathered at the conference venue. 20 various cultural teams participated and performed the different folk shows during the procession. Before the procession, the flag hoisting and the inauguration of various entry gates were inaugurated by the guests. Opposing the conducting of kannada conference at Virajpet when the world conference itself has been cancelled, due to complication arioused by Cauvery dispute the “kavery Sene” activists headed by Ravi Chengappa and Maletira Shrinivas shouted slogans against the organizers and with black badges have protested.
