HOLY DIP AT IRPU;

Hundreds of devotees took holy dip at Irpu Rameshwara River yesterday.

Devotees arrived from surrounding villages to take part in the annual car festival of Irpu Rameshwara temple. They took holy dip at Lakshmana teerta and arrived at the temple. District in charge minister Ramachandra Gowda also took part in the festival and performed pooja.

Annadan was held by the temple committee. Special busses were organized for all the devotees from Srimangala.

CNC TO STAGE PROTEST;

Convenor of the Codagu National council, N.U.Nachappa has said that he will hold a protest before Deputy Commissioner’s office on this 21st.

He told in a press meet here that the CNC members will present different demands. Though the protest was planned before Vidana Soudha, it is now held at Madikeri. Nachappa also said that the CNC is demanding equal share of Cauvery water to Karnataka. He lambasted the local representatives and said that in the name of united Karnataka they are cheating people of Kodagu. He regretted that the people here are suffering due to shortage of drinking water and laborers are depending on bore wells when perennial source of Cauvery exists in Kodagu.

Nachappa demanded water facility to all the villages in the district. He also regretted that the second crop system in the district is also vanishing due to shortage of water.

TREATMENT RESEARCH CENTRE AT VIRAJPET;

Director of Boston University of Dental medicine, Professor T.E.Van Dike inaugurated a research centre at Dental Science College, Virajpet, recently.

He stated that the Boston University will take up joint research work along with the Dental College. He also said that both the institutions will exchange students, library books and knowledge.

Dr.Sunil Muddaiah of dental science college stated that his institution is the eighth such institutuion which has introduced exchange programme with the permission of the Indian Dental Association. Chairman K.K.Aiyappa and others were present.
