CAR FEST AT SHANTHALLI;

Hundreds of villagers witnessed the colourful car festival at shanthalli near Somwarpet yesterday.

Shanthalli, a remote villge which receives second highest rainfall in Kodagu district observed Sree Kumaralingeshwara Ratotsav with Spiritual fervor.

Temple committee chairman Subbaiah, vice president Ningappa,and secretary Manohar pulled the cart to mark the start.

WIFE GETS LIFE TERM FOR KILLING HUB;

A wife killing her husband is awarded life term by the district and sessions court.

According to the complaint, An estate worker Kamala brutally butchered her husband Naga to death during 2003.

Kamala and Naga were living in the line house of an estate at Attur Nallore village at Somwarpet taluk. Naga used to fight with his wife, often in a drunken state. On the fateful day, kamala lost her temper and attacked him with a bill hook. In a bizarre state of mind, Kamala set ablaze the body.

The sessions court awarded life imprisonment to Kamala and slapped a fine of rupees two thousand.

BIKE JATHA;

Hindu organizations took out a bike Jatha yesterday at Somwarpet.

The Jatha was organized toattract Hindus to take part in the rally called AT Somwarpet on 21st.

Hundreds of bike rolled out after Vishweshwara swamiji blessed the gathering. Gundicoppa Prabhudev and others were present during the Jatha. The Jatha covered towns like Kodlipet, Shanivarsanthe and returned to Somwarpet by evening.

Meanwhile, the organizers have said that an autorikshaw Jatha would be taken out today.
