CONVICTION IF BIO –MEDICAL WASTE THROWN TO STREETS

Conviction and imposition of penalty is inevitable for contravention of the act and the rules for hospitals, medical care centers if they fail to dispose off the medical waste materials properly.

Madikeri City municipal Commissioner D.H.Raya had called a special meeting of private and Govt. hospital managements, heads of medical care centers to inform about the prevailing law. A representative from “Shri Consultants” of Mysore explained how the Bio Medical waste could be collected through the arrangement of three types of special bags in three colours. Yellow, blue and red colour bags will be provided to the management. They should store the wastes in these bags bifurcating the materials. The organisation will send vehicles to collect these materials as they are presently conducting in Mysore. After collection of segregated materials they carry them to Mysore where a special technological machine will burn those materials in a scientific way.

All the hospital heads in Madikeri who have attended the meeting have agreed to follow the new method for disposing off the materials. Otherwise the law provides the imposition of penalty up to Rs. One lakh or conviction of 5 years. If the failure or contravention continues beyond a p[period of one year after the date of conviction, the offender shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to seven years. This was disclosed by the commissioner in the meeting.

PROTEST AGAINST ONLINE LOTTERY

The various women organisations at Shanivarasanhte in Somwarpet Thaluk have organized protest against the online and single lottery dealings. The women team demanded the closure of the shops dealing such lotteries.

The lottery selling centers at Kitturu Rani Chennamma circle involved in the sale of lotteries and open online lotteries throughout the day. The Labour class in the area are attracted by this and they hesitate to go for work in the filed. During evening hours many of them return bare handed and create havoc by forcibly taking the money from their wives.

The protestors surrounded the Village Panchayath office where the meeting was going on. The meeting was stopped by the members and the president Adil pasha and the Vice president Sunanda came out and assured that in the mass interest the licenses of lottery dealers will be cancelled immediately.
