AUTOS TO GO OFF ROAD;

The Auto rickshaws in the district will go off road on this 25th.

The auto association has said that the decision to go on strike was taken to protest price hike on spare parts, change in insurance policy etcetera.

The strike will be held in all the three talukas. Memorandum would be submitted to the Deputy Commissioner here at Madikeri and to the respective tahasildars at Somwarpet and Virajpet.

The office bearers have requested the parents and passengers to co operate.

TEMPLE REJUVENATION BEGINS;

Rejuvenation of Padi Iggutappa temple at Kakkabbe near Napoklu has begun.

President of Sree Ramakrishna Sharadashram, Ponnampet Swamy Jagadatmananda unveiled the stone to mark the start of works, yesterday.

Addressing the gathering, Swamiji stated that prayer has power and human beings can beget power through prayer.

Swamy Ramanuja Jeyak from kailasashram, Bangalore spoke on the occasion.

Tantri Muniyangala Prasad temple chief Paradanda Chengappa, architect Shivashankar and others were present.

GANJA PLANTS SEIZED;

Ponnampet police have seized Ganja plants worth rupees 4.5 lakhs and arrested two persons.

According to police, Planter B.A.Cariappa with the help of a labourer was growing ganja plants as intercrop in his coffee estate. The raiding team of police cut about 150 fully grown ganja plants and arrested laborer Kurku along with Cariappa yesterday.

Investigation is on.
