Madikeri March 3, 2007

A no confidence move is underway against the president Ashok and vice president Neelamma of Zilla Panchayath here.

Fourteen members from Congress, led by Chembanda Ganesh and supported by JDs member H.B.Ganesh submitted a no confidence letter to The Zilla Panchayath president himself and Chief Executive officer.

The rebel members have stated that the administration in Zilla Panchayath has collapsed due to the disinterest and inefficiency by the president and vice president. They have requested the CEO to immediately call a meeting to pass the no confidence motion.

The zilla panchayath has a total member strength of 29. While congress enjoys majority 14 seats, BJP has 10 and JDs 4.

President Ashok is a congress rebel candidate and he won the post with the support of BJP and Jds. Hence congress had to sit in the opposition chair. Presently, the congress has the support of a JDs member Ganesh H.B. to make majority.

They cannot win the next election and that reality is bothering them and inspiring them to take indirect methods to snatch power this way, he opined. President Ashok said that he is not aware of any such move like no confidence.
