BJP OBSERVERS ARRIVE;The state BJP observers Santosh and Madhusudan have arrived at Kodagu to take stock of the vacant post of president and its candidates. The two leaders are holding talk with the different factions proposing two names, mainly for the post of district BJP presidentship. Controvercy is raging between two groups to appoint their supporter as president and the election has been postponed several times. Sunil Subramani, brother of state Sports authority vice chairman Appachu Ranjan and Ravikushalappa are in the fray. Ravi Kushalappa is supported by local MLA K.G.Bopaiah. Both the factions are not prepared to give up their claim and the unity of BJP is visibly shaken in the district due to this issue. The leaders are holding talk with the district party chiefs and MLAs. MINORITIES BOARD UNDER PROGRESS;The minorities’ development board in the state has achieved 40% progress and it will reach the target by next budget, said its chairman Anwar Manappadi. Addressing press persons here yesterday, Anwar said that the government has allotted a grant of rupees 48 crores for the development and kodagu district has received rupees two crores for the purpose. He regretted that the money here is not spent due to official lethargy. He informed that letters were dispatched to Masjidhs, Churches and Jain Mandirs to take utilize the benefit through the board. Anwar said that he has toured fifteen districts to verify the grievances personally. BJP district president S.G.medappa, general secretary Sunil Subramani and others were present. THIEVES TARGET HARANGI DAM;The irrigation officials in a complaint to police have said that thieves have stolen iron bars worth lakhs of rupees from Harangi dam. The baffling fact is that around 800 heavy iron bars from the crest gates are missing. The complaint has given raise to concern and suspicion as Harangi is well guarded by security personnel and police. People have questioned how iron bars can be transported without their knowledge. They suspect the involvement of security. Though the theft was done long back, the officials have lodged the complaint only now. Kushalnagar police have taken up the case. |
