LOKAYUKTA TRAPS ENGINEER;

A CHESCOM engineer Srinivas was trapped by Lokayukta yesterday for accepting bribe.

Srinivas was caught red handed while accepting rupees five thousand as a bribe to install transformer from a customer.

According to police Captain Madappa of Hulugunda near Siddpur had applied for regularization of fixing a 20 H.P. motor to draw water from Cauvery River. He had paid rupees 28 thousand fee and deposit to the department. But the assistant engineer Srinivas was demanding rupees five thousand to erect a transformer to enable Madappa to pump water. Madappa lodged a complaint with the Madikeri Lokayukta office.

Lokayukta officer Divakar and staff yesterday trapped Srinivas in the illegal act and registered a case.

LOKAYUKTA TO VISIT KODAGU;

Lokayukta Santosh Hegde will visit Kodagu on this 15th.

He will receive complaints from public at Sudarshan guest house on 16th morning.

His deputy Patri Basavana Gowda is also accompanying him, according to sources.

Santosh Hegde will move to Sargur from madikeri in the evening.

NO CONFIDENCE ATTEMPT STALLED;

The no confidence attempt against the Zilla Panchayath president Ashok was stalled with the intervention of MLC Arun machaiah.

The no confidence move raised much heat and dust after JDs member Ganesh wished to withdraw his support to Ashok. Congress members who form single majority made a move to clinch powere and submitted petition to CEO and DC to call a emergency meeting to move no confidence.

In a secret meeting held at Thithimathi yesterday, MLC Arun Machaiah and other leaders convinced Ganesh in the presence of Ashok to reverse his decision. Ganesh agreed to the request.

Ashok is a congress rebel candidate who won independently. He was lifted to president’s post with the support of BJP the second largest party in ZP and JDs.
