MURDERS TWO, KILLS SELF;

In a bizarre incident reported from Kushalnagar, a person went amuck, killed two, injured one and committed suicide afterwards. The incident occurred during midnight.

According to police, mayilappa alias Pakka, 34 barged into the house of Kurshida Bhanu, 43 around ! a.m today and brutally hacked to death Kurshida and her daughter Shabana. The deceased were sleeping soundly at the time of the incident. He tried to kill Shamina, sister of Shabana and injured here with billhook attack. Shamina ran to her neighbour along with a two year old baby for help.

Accused ran away from the spot. Police arrived at the spot well before Sunrise and conducted mahajar. The dog squad failed to trace the culprit. However by 7.30 a.m neighbours noticed the body of the accused hanging from a tree behind his house.

According to people Accused had an affair with Shabana. She was reportedly swindling him for money. Accused was a roaming merchant selling rugs.

Superintendent of police Ramachandra Rao visited the spot in the morning.

JAMMA ISSUE; OFFICER PROMISES ACTION;

Conservator of forests, P.Premkumar yesterday promised a group of planters, members of Nalknad Farmers Club that he will brief the government about the actual problem faced by planters.

The members met the officer and explained that the Jamma land issue has turned their lives miserable. They own the land, and yet they are not the owners!, that’s the situation, they said. They told that the government has now declared Jamma land owned by their fore fathers through generations as belonging to forest.

The members said that forest rules in Kodagu are not in line with the rules which exist in other districts of the state. They alleged that the government passed this hasty order on the recommendation of a previous conservator. They urged Premkumar to prepare a new report and submit it to the government.

The members led by president of farmers club, Jolly Bopaiah cautioned to the officer that people of Kodagu will revolt if the government fails to initiate positive action.

DRUNKEN SWIMMING DROWNS MAN;

A jolly swim in a lake ended the life of a drunken person at Perumbadi near Virajpet, on fourteenth.

According to police, Manju aged forty and his friend Kamaluddin went for swimming in a fully drunken state during day time to escape from the scorching Sun. While Kamaluddin managed to climb up, Manju did not.

Police have registered a case.
