MANN’S COMPOUND TO BE NAMED AFTER GENERAL THIMMAIAH;Madikeri March 24, 2007 The decade old mann’s Compound ground at madikeri will be named after genral Thimmaiah, whereas a gallery would be named after C.V.Shankar, grate coach and a player. The above decision was taken in the stadium committee meeting held here yesterday under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Subodh yadav. The deputy commissioner told that a letter would be written to government seeking its permission. The DC disclosed that the government has released rupees one crore for the development of the stadium. The members decided to build roof for the existing gallery, erection of temporary gallery from Gowda Samaj side, cattle trap etc. The members decided to collect rupees one thousand as annual rent from the Roller Skating association which has its rink in the ground. GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEE ENCROACHES LAND;Tension broke yesterday at Ashok Nagar at Madikeri as a government employee V.M.Ramesh, working in court allegedly encroached land and a government building. Residents of Ashokanagar sat in protest around the encroached land and demanded eviction. A two hour rasta rokho was held demanding the presence of officials.Police arrived at the spot as tension began to mount. Police and revenue officials arrived at the spot. Tahasildar Satyanarayan ordered immediate survey and found out that the employee had encroached seven cents of land along with a godown belonging to government. He was in fact sanctioned with two cents of land by the government. He has included seven more cents along with the building. Tahasildar prepared a letter on the spot and appealed to the deputy commissioner for eviction of encroached land. YOUTH FROM KODAGU DROWNS;A youth from Kodagu, studying at Bangalore died drowned in Cauvery River at Muthathi in Mandya. The incident occurred on 23rd. Around 22 students along with Yogesh, 22 went on a trip to Muthathi falls. Yogesh and another boy from Bangalore reportedly got drowned. They were cayght in a whirlpool. Dead bodies were taken to their respective places. Yogesh is the son of K.V.Erappa of chikka kunda near shanivarsanthe. THALACAUVERY-RESTRICTED ENTRY-STOPS HOLY BATHMadikeri March 24 At Thalacuaery, the birth place of river Cauvery, holy bath for pilgrims will not be allowed from Next April 1st to till 40 days. The overall renovation work by the Cauvery development authority is in the completion stage. The infrastructural works are coming to an end. Now, the contract Engineers P.G.Shetty and company will commence the repair work of bathing pond at Thalacuavery from April 1st onwards. It will take a minimum of 40 days according to schedule. Meanwhile the holy “Kundike”(Small pond) where the river Cauvery virtually originates will be renovated on 14th to 16th of April after de watering the holy pond. To commence such a delicate work the Cauvery development authority has decided to get the guidance and the presence of the “Kshethra Tanthri” Neeleshwara Padmanbha Tanthri who is the Vedic authority and the geologists, architects, engineers and also an important representative from the Govt. Today, the high level committee decided to invite the Mujrai minister Nagarajashetty to be present during the commencement of the holy kundige work and to particiapate in mass prayer. Today’s meeting was presided over by the deputy commissioner Subodh yadav. While addressing he told the holy pond is the centre of sentiments and devotion. The river Cauvery originates here. The renovation work requires the moral support and valuable suggestions from the various community heads in Kodagu. It requires the backing from the senior citizens, the experts in the district. T.D.Manmohan, the technical advisor to the authority requested the involvement of the important citizens to complete the dream of renovation of the Cauvery birth place. He presented the detail plan and the nature of work to be done. Somshekhar,of the PG.Constructions made the power point presentation in the meeting to convince the attendants. Ultimately the meeting resolved to start the repair work in the bathing pond and also the Holy kundike. The pilgrims will be given “Thirtham” at Aggastyeshara temple premises during the repair work period.. The Entry towards the pond section is strictly restricted for 40 days from Next April 1st. Today’s meeting was attended by the Vishwa Hindu Parishath president K.S.Devaiah, The Akhila Kodava Samaj President Mathanda Monnappa, the retd. Army General Nanda, the retd.
