COOKING GAS CONSUMERS PROTEST

Madikeri Feb. 2 Cooking gas consumers protested against the black marketing of cooking gas by dealers in Gonikppal town.The Indian dealers are collecting excess amount from the consumers. They misbehave with the public. Aged persons, women have to wait in the queue for the whole day. But, the dealers ignore them and send them empty handed. They sell a cylinder at Rs. 600 illegally. Even for the advanced booked customers also they refuse to supply the cylinders. Manjuala , the Virajpet. thaluk women organization group leader took lead., The dealers should provide gas cylinders for more than 13 thousand consumers. But since last December onwards the consumers were cheated and the dealers supply only for the consumers who pay excess amount. The allegation made by women organizations was seriously considered by thaluk thahasildar Shwetha who instructed the food authorities deal the matter. Police controlled the situation and calmed down women consumers. The Virajpet. dealers also avoid distributing the gas cylinders at Virajpet town . secretly they are doing the job by distributing directly from their godowns situated in a village- .the agitators allege.B.J.,P thalik president M.M. Ravindra, Z.P.member Ranjan Chengappa, T.P.member Ramdas also supported the issue.

GUN SHOT:ONE SERIOUS

Madikeri Jan Feb. 2 B.L.Chandrashekhar a resident of Murnad village near here was injured due to gun shot by suspected persons. He was supporting the dalitha Sangharsha Samithi and sat with them in a Dharni demanding house site for the Daliths near market area. The dharni was carried since a week.

When he was walking towards a provision store to buy rice suddenly two persons came on the way and and protested against his action of sitting dharna favouring daliths. According to the injured Chandrashekhar’s statement to police Ramesh and Poonacha of Murnad town suddenly opened fire through a revolver. The people who were witnesses to mutual clash suddenly fled away from the scene. Chandrashekhar who was seriously injured escaped another shot by entering nearby shop for protection. After first aid in Madikeri hospital the injured was shifted to Mangalore. According to local doctors opinion it seems that two bullet pieces are seen inside his nostrils.Madikeri rural S.I Karim Ravthar investigating. Police S.P. Sandeep Patil visited the spot.
