POPULAR FRONT OF INDIA HOLDS RALLY

The popular front of India organization held a rally here yesterday and bombarded the destructive forces trying to divide communities in the society. The leaders called upon the society to live in unity to strengthen it. They state that there is need to build a new Karnataka and the people should realize its value.

A.M.M.Shafi, treasurer of PFI addressed the gathering and said that people should hold power to defeat the communal forces.

Anwar Saadath from Dakshina Kannada in his speech said that 42 percent in India are house less and fifty percent are in dire poverty. Taunting the present politicians statement, he said that India can shine only when the life of poor shines.

Advocate A.K.Subbaiah condemned the Hindu organizations and their act of forcibly making the chairman of backward classes drink Teerta from Talacauvery at a guest house. He opined that corruption is at its low as there is Governors rule in Karnataka and there is no loss even if the election was postponed.

Advocate Vidyadhar stated that organizations should be backed by constitutional and non communal background.

SI, POLICE RECEIVE COURT SUMMONS;

Virajpet court has issued summons to a sub inspector, constables and members of a nagarika samity to appear before court in a trespass case.

The courts summon comes as one Suju Cariappa has lodged a complaint against the then Subinspector P.P.Santosh, now a retired SI A.P.Machaiah, constables and members of a Nagarika Samity of trespassing into his house on 24.2.2007 at Srimangala.

He has alleged that the accused looted coffee worth rupees three thousand from his house and forcibly took signatures on empty sheets.

Advocate Dhruva has filed a criminal case under different sections of IPC against the accused.

PETROL RATE HIKE PROTESTED;

The BJP here held a protest against the hike in petrol and diesel rate and submitted a memorandum to the assistant commissioner.

Former MLA K.G.Bopaiah, general secretary Sunil Subramani and others went in a procession shouting slogan against the government for hiking the price. The memorandum was submitted at the Fort premises.
