RAT POISON CLAIMS TWO KIDS;Madikeri February 18, 2008 Two kids aged four have died after consuming rat poison at home, accidentally. The incident occurred at Maldare near Siddapur. Kaali aged four, daughter of Choma and his brother Mada’s son Ranja, 4 ate the rat poison kept in a corner of their hut on the night of fifteenth. Kids were shifted to Madikeri hospital from Siddapur hospital. While one child died on the night of sixteenth, another child died yesterday morning. Body was handed over to family after autopsy. NAYAKS HOLD CONFERENCE;MLC Chikkamadu has called upon Nayaks to unite together and work for the development of the society. Chikkamadu was addressing the first conference organized by Nayak community in Kodagu, yesterday. He inaugurated the conference at Kushalnagar and said that there are fifty lakh Nayaks in the country and the government should recognize it. He urged the government to celebrate Valmikis birth day. President of the state Ahinda youth association, Appanna unveiled the picture of Madakari Nayaka and announced that the talented students from Nayak community in the district would be given scholarship in his fathers name. State BJP Sc St cell president Siddaraju unveiled the picture of Valmiki and said that they should make use of the benefits being provided by the government. District president M.Mallapaa said that they should be given reservation in elections. DySP Shashikumar released a calendar on the occasion. Additional SP from Mysore, H.R.Bhagavandas felicitated members. Secretary Ashok and others spoke on the occasion. LORRY CATCHES FIRE;A driverless lorry hit a compound yesterday and caught fire. A Swaraj Mazda parked at night went neutral and hit the compound wall of its owner Nagesh in the wee hours. The impact of the accident sparked fire inside the lorry and it engulfed it. The owners got out of the house as they heard exploding sound. The two tyres of the lorry bursted in the fire waking up neighbours from the surrounding area. HOUSE GUTTED;A house belonging to one Thammaiah at Kalakeri Nidugane was gutted yesterday as the bathroom fire engulfed the house. An ex army personnel, Thammaiah stated that the whole house, including paddy stored in the house was gutted in the fire, rendering them home less. The incident occurred on the night of sixteenth. |
