SWAMIJI, 25 OTHERS SENT TO JUDICIAL CUSTODY;

Channabasappa Deshiya Swamiji of Kannada Mutt, Pollibetta and 24 others were sent to judicaial custody for trespassing into the house of Chowrira family.

Swamiji forced entry into the Chowrira family in their disputed land on Sunday along with Kannada activists from Bangalore and locked himself in a room. Police broke open the door arrested him, so also the activists who sat in dharna.

A long standing dispute is going on between Kannada Mutt and Chowrira family to claim ownership and court had brought a stay and a status co. Swamiji and others defied the order and tried to take procession of the house and land by force.

The court has put the accused under judicial custody till eleventh of December.

Police have slapped cases under five sections of IPC, including life threat to a widow living in the house.

CNC HOLDS DHARNA;

The Kodava National Council held a protest before Hudikeri gram Panchayath and said that it is beginning its Panchayath level protest to press its demands from here.

The CNC secretary general N.U.Nachappa said that 45 villages of Kodagu should be included in the 6th schedule of the constitution like the Goorka land.

He has also demanded constitutional assurance to Kodavas and demanded minority states. A memorandum was submitted to the gram Panchayath president Savitry to forward it to state and centre.

Nachappa said that their fight to achieve the goal will continue till they reach goal.

DIES IN ACCIDENT;

A person died on the spot as a lorry ran over him yesterday evening at kandanakolly near here.

A lorry ran ov er Chikkaraju, 52 on the high way as the deceased was passing the road. He was crossing the road after buying few items in a shop. The lorry was going towards Kollegal.

Police arrested the driver Imran Sahariff. Deceased leaves wife and four children.
