‘KUNDA MAISTRY’ PROJECT TO BEGIN;

City Municipal Commissioner Raya has said that the ‘Kunda Maistry’ drinking water project will begin by the end of January.

Talking to this correspondent, he said that the rupees seven crore project to provide drinking water has received government nod in the month of July and the first installment of cash was already received.

While the project is all set to take off, it is awaiting technical nod to start. The files are with the Deputy Commissioner. While the district administration has identified the land near Gaalibeedu, it has to be handed over to the City Municipal Council, Madikeri. Once the project is over, Madikerians will not cry for drinking water during summer.

However, Madikeri may not face drinking water problem during this season as the level of water storage tank is increased and de silting work was also done, according to Raya.

Meanwhile, the CMC has already began building concrete roads in the town and more roads would be concretized at a cost of rupees 1.30 crores. Roads from General Thimmaiah circle to bustand, bustand to Cauvery hall, industrial estate road will all be concretized soon. Presently the roads from chain gate to Cauvery mahal and hill road are being concretized. Roads at mangaladevinagar and Indiranagar will also be concretisesed. He also disclosed that a underground approach would be built from main road near Bustand to Junior college road in the second phase at a cost of rupees thirty lakhs. The private bustand would be shifted at a cost of rupees 1.30 crore.

Pipelines in Madikeri will also be changed by replacing the old, iron pipes. Parking place is also being organized by building walls and laying slabs over sewage water canal in the town, opposite to KSRTC bustand.

SELECTED FOR KABADDI;

Two students pf Jnanabharaty school, Kushalnagar were selected for state level Kabaddi to be held at Chttisgar.

P.B.Sharathkuma and B.B.Vishwakumar will represent the team at Chttisgar in the state level Kabaddi to be held this month.

R.3.31 CRORES TO VIRAJPET ROADS;

MLC Arun Machaiah has said that rupees 3.31 crores is sanctioned to roads in Virajpet taluk.

Inaugurating a school hall built with the MLC grant, Machaiah said that the money was being released through chief minister’s road fund and twelfth financial scheme.

He said that funds for road maintenance in Karnataka are not allotted properly compared to other states. Road works are suffering due to shortage of Jelly stones and non payment to contractors.

Srimangala Gram pachayath president Sheil Subramani presided. Education convenor Uthappa, betterment committee president B.C.udaya and others were present.

SANDIP PATIL AS SP;

Government has appointed Sandip Patil as superintendent of polices post, which is vacant since months.

DYSP Shashikumar ios in charge of the post at present. Patil is only named and is yet to take charge.
