ALLIANCE FALSE ASSURANCE CAUSED VACUUM IN THE COOPERATIVE SECTOR:MALLIKARJUN KHARGEMadikeri Jan.5 The JDS- BJP alliance Govt. false assurance caused vacuum in the state cooperative sector-alleged Mallikarjuna Kharge, KPCC president here. He was addressing a huge gathering at Gandhi Maidan, Madikeri after inaugurating the Public movement awareness march organized by Kodagu District Congress committee. The alliance Govt. had announced Rs.2250 loan exemption to Karnataka farmers borrowed through the cooperative sector.. The Govt. released Rs. 750 crore only for the cause and the remaining amount is borne by the various cooperative societies and banks from their own funds. The heavy loss occurred to the cooperative sector is not reimbursed by the then Govt. Karge explained. He charged BJP leader B.S.Yediyurappa having connivance with the dealers in the distribution of cycles to the students through. commission He quoted the allegation made by Janardhana Reddy,a memer of the alliance group against Ex. Chief Minister Kumaraswamy that he had deposited Rs. 150 crores in his wife’s name within a span of 3 months period. Where this money come from he questioned. He warned BJP leaders not to go on teasing the congress party. It is none of their business to poke nose into other party affairs he said. The main theme of the BJP was to gain money and so they lost power when they did not get the needed portfolios-Karge analysed. Congress has the back history of constructing dams, providing fair price commodities, developing industries during 50 years of rule. The alliance Govt. has done nothing during 20 months of rule in the state-he compared. He denied allegation by the BJP that the present Governor’s rule is controlled by the congress party. The Governor in Karnataka is administering the state with the direct instructions from the President and the allegation by the BJP is of foolish thinking. He told that the BJP has no sympathy wave in Karnataka and the congress has the brightest chance of gaining power in the state. He criticised the previous Govt. for not solving the burning Jamma problem in Kodagu and unnecessary creating fear in the minds of Jamma holders in the district. While speaking Siddaramaiah ex. Dy Chief minister explained that the concept of providing 4% interest to the farmers was his creation backed by the then Chief Minister Dharam Singh. BJP could not take credit out of this he added. Now the situation has become worst after the ban of arrack. Instead of sachets bottles occupy the place. even, the people have to pay more for their needs. The bottles are now available even in retail shops .The alliance Govt. cannot take credit for the ban of Lottery in the state. They have followed the court orders and there is no exclusive decision by the Govt...He teased Devegowda and his sons saying “Mannina Makkalu”. If they were very particular about the concept the sons would have accepted agriculture, Horticulture or animal husbandry portfolios. Why they urged to get other biggest portfolios? Photo: Kharge Inaugurated The March SOMWARPET: PERMANENT SOLUTION TO DINKING WATER PROBLEMMadikeri Jan.5 People of Somwarpet will get permanent solution to drinking water problem in the town. At present the town people are getting drinking water supply from the nearby Dudgal and Kakkehole.During summer both these streams become dry and the town people suffer without supply of drinking water .The ex. M.L.A B.A Jeevijaya had sent a proposal through district administration to the state Govt. During the last regime of Kumaraswamy, the project was stuck in the Govt. offices No positive response found. The Governor Ramehswar Takur has a better way of taking decisions. The Govt. has cleared the file on 3-1-2008 and sanctioned the project. The drinking water will be supplied from Harangi reservoir near Kushalnagar which is a permanent source. The proposal was recommended by P.C.Prabhu, the advisor to Governor and the Governor ultimately approved it-disclosed Jeevijaya, the ex. M.L.A. The total cost of the project is Rs. 610 lakhs.The state Govt. has to contribute Rs. 406.08 lakhs.The rural development and Panchayath raj department has to bear Rs. 112 lakhs and the central Govt. will release Rs. 91.92 lakh to complete the project. The proposed project is based on future plan. The expected population during next 2031 in Somwarpet town is 7970. The surrounding 5 villages’ population has the strength of 18,097. .To meet the demands of these people the present Harangi project is feasible-explained Jeevijaya. Photo: Harangi reservoir. PROTEST AGAINST MININGMadikeri Jan. 5 people of Bittangala Nangala village, South Kodagu are opposing the attempt for mining in the village. They have decided to complain to the Governor not to permit mining in the area. The villagers say that they are getting anonymous calls threatening dire consequences if the villagers continue their protest. The villagers conducted a protest meeting in Bittangala Nangala village. C.S.Arun Machaiah, the M.L.C also attended the meeting. The mining could not be carried without permission from the centre-warned Arun Machaiah.He told that he will support the anti mining movement in the area. If the Govt. does not completely stop the mining the local people are ready to conduct protest in front of the Deputy commissioners office. This was announced by the anti mining committee president Chendrimada Ganesh.. Retd. Police Inspector. Mandappa,, CPIM leader Peter.
