PREMA CARIAPPA APPEAL FOR KODAGU PACKAGE

Madikeri jan.10 Smt. Prema cariappa , Rajyasabha member appealed for special Kodagu package. She told she will request the central Govt. for a special grant for this purpose. She was speaking in a press conference at Shrimangala after Inaugurating the Shrimangala junior college anniversary.

Kodagu should be considered under hilly area. The district should get the facilities provided under hill council schemes she urged. Due to heavy rain in the district damages to road is also high. So, extra amount is required for road maintenance in Kodagu.She will meet land transport minister K.H.Muniappa also to request for this consideration she assured in the function.

She also disclosed that she had met Prime minister Manmohan singh 15 days bach along with the Chickmagalore coffee growers and explained him the problems exists in coffee palantation.Prime minister assured that he will discuss with concerned ministers and announce decision.

She regretted about the slowness of agitations and protest movements to get the justice for the district. Burning issues like jamma and other problems would be solved only if the people continue their protests-she suggested. If any delegation comes she told she is ready to discuss with the Present Governor regarding the issue. She disclosed that already the centre has agreed to provide railway line upto Kushalnagar from K.R.Nangar. But some leaders simply oppose the railway line to Kodagu. If such things happen the development could not be done. There is complain of disparity in the distribution of pension for the army persons who retired after 1970.This has already been brought to the notice of central defense ministerial she explained
