APMC CHANGES HANDS;Madikeri January 19, 2008 Posts of president and vice president which was vacant after the no confidence motion was passed recently at Gonicoppal was filled yesterday. Tahasildar Shweta held the election and declared K.T.Tippu Biddappa and V.P.Prabhu as president and vice president. Tension prevailed for sometime as the ousted president Bose Devaiah delivered a sarcastic speech and ridiculed the new team by stating that they are deriving ugly joy by shooting at the dead body. The other members raised strong objection and urged the election officer to stop Devaiah from talking. Tasildar brought the situation under control. Devaiah vacated the hall along with his supporters. No confidence motion was passed against Bose Devaiah by his own party members I n the APMC for the second time. He was saved first time as the BJP MLA Basavaraju nominated members to APMC and saw to it that they vote in favor of Devaiah. ALARM TO SAVE TEMPLE PROPERTY;Regional commissioner G.M.Dhanajay has directed the Deputy Commissioner Niranjan to provide proper security to temples coming under Mujarayi department. Holding a meeting at DCs office yesterday he said that the thieves will target temples as they did at Melukote recently. DC was urged to arrange video cameras inside the temples and police were asked to increase the beat around temples during night time. Earlier Dhananjaya inspected office records in many departments and held officers meet. He advised the officials to implement the government schemes and projects properly. COOKING GAS IN VEHICLES TO BE CHECKED;Assistant director of food and civil supplies department, Manteswamy has said that illegal usage of cooking gas in vehicles would be strictly checked. Taking part in the ‘Aahara Adalath’ meeting at Deputy Commissioners office, he said that number of such complaints are increasing. RTO and [police would be requested to check the vehicles and control illegal usage, he said. Commissioner of Scouts and Guides, baby Mathew informed the meeting that illegal refilling centres are mushrooming in the centre and they should be booked. He also complained that the gas agencies are not co operating with the consumers. Manteswamy informed the meeting that issueing cards to people are in progress. Errors in the previous cards are being rectified, he said. |
