DRIVER KILLED AS TRACTOR TOPPLES;

Driver of a tractor got killed on the spot as it toppled.

A resident of kushalnagar, Prakash was serving as a driver at an estate at Arekad near here. He was carrying soil in the tractor yesterday as the incident occurred. The tractor lost control and toppled. Prakash was caught under the mud and died on the spot.

Siddapur police conducted mahazar. Deceased leaves wife and parents.

WIFE COMMITTS SUICIDE;

Unable to bear the torture from her husband, a second wife committed suicide by swallowing poison.

According to police, Vimala, 38 was the second wife of an estate worker Sidda residing at an estate line house at Siddapur. He was harassing her continuosly to get money for him to drink. Unable to bear the torture, Vimala committed suicide on the night of Sunday.

Her daughter has lodged a complaint with the police.

TEXT BOOKS SHOULD CHANGE;

The president of SSF, Abdul Rashid Zeini Kamil Sakhafi Kakkinje has opined that the contents of the text books should be changed to improve better relationship in the society.

Addressing the communal harmony meet organized on the occasion of the historical Soofi Shahid Oroos at Emmemadu, he stated that the text books contain objectionable contents instilling difference between communities and children should be given better stuff to strengthen their ideologies.

Taking objection to the historical facts about Muslim rulers as mentioned in the books, he stated that they are far from truth and are written by British. We do not want our children to dwell in the past, instead, they should be worrying more about the future, he said. He regretted that the country has spent rupees sixty crores so far after independence to contain communal clashes and so much of money is not spent on development. He informed that the Masjids have history of more than 1379 years.

Swamy Ananda Teerta spoke on the occasion and said that the country should not have been divided. A cool mind can conquer love he said. Former MLA from Bangalore Abdul Azim said that though the country is scientifically progressing, it is lagging behind in developing communal harmony. MLC Arun machaiah, planter B.T.pradip, journalist T.P.ramesh and others spoke on the occasion. Syed Aatakoya Tangal Kumbul presided over.

Oroos was celebrated with spiritual fervour. Thousands of people took part in the free food distribution and rituals.
