SUB INSPECTOR SUSPENDED;Madikeri March 12, 2008 Siddapur Police Sub inspector Santosh is suspended on charges of attacking and threatening the life of an advocate recently. Superintendent of police, Sandip Patil told that the DIG has suspended the police officer after receiving complaint from the state BAR council. An advocate Pemmaiah was beaten and threatened inside the police station recently as the advocate and his accomplices allegedly trespassed into the property of one Ganapathy and kidnapped laborers. A counter complaint was lodged the next day after the advocate was attacked by SI and five other constables. Superintendent of police, Sandip patil had appointed a DySP to investigate the matter and submit a report and had told that action would be initited after the report is ready. However, DIG, South Zone, Gaonkar has issued order suspending the tainted officer. The BAR council Virajpet had been boycotting the proceedings of the court since four days in protest. GOVT SANCTIONS RUPEES 2.31 CROREThe state government has sanctioned rupees 2.31 crores for Somwarpet development. According to the chief officer Sudakar and president Nalini Ganesh, the Town Panchayath has kept an action plan ready for the amount and various developmental projects would be undertaken by the newly formed committee. Drinking water, road repair, sanitation, market development drainage will receive priority, according to them. Rupees 1.71 crore is already released and the remaining amount would be released in the second phase. The Town Panchayath has a plan to build a high tech market yard and the tender process is on. WOMAN ROBBED OF JEWELLRYTWO UNIDENTIFIED PERSONS HAVE ROBBED A LADY OF GOLD WORTH RUPEES 35,000 AT Somwarpet on Monday. According to police, one Saroja of Tolur Shettalli near Somwarpet was met by a lady posing as a pregnant at Somwarpet on Monday during Shandy. She was taken to a corner, given “beeda” to chew and robbed of the jewelry. She was shown glittering jewelry by the lady who said that it is worth rupees fifty thousand and asked Saroja to get it exchanged. While saroja was in a dilemma she was given “beeda” which made her feel dizzy and agree to what the lady said. Meantime, a man also appeared at the sight and both of them disappeared after forcibly taking original jewelry from saroja. Saroja went back to the house and realized that the glittering items were duplicates and she has lost solid gold. She arrived at Somwarpet yesterday and lodged a complaint with the police. BJP HOLDS PROTEST;Members of BJP Kushalnagar Hobli held a protest yesterday and alleged that irregularities are found in the distribution of BPL and ration cards. Shouting slogans in front of Nad office at Kushalnagar, the protestors said that some of the politicians are involved in malfunctioning. Former MLA Appachu Rajan came to the spot and spoke to the revenue authorities. He urged the officials to set right the defects immediately. Hobli president Moodligowda, secretary Ganiprasad and others were present in the protest. Earlier a protest march was carried out in the main street of the town. |
