SON SHOOTS FATHER TO DEATH;Madikeri March 16, 2008 In a barborous incident, a person shot a person on his face and the injured persons son rushed to the spot and shot at the chest of his father to death at garvale in somwarpet taluk, yesterday night. A rowdy sheeter, Deejiganda paapanna is the victim. The deceased Papanna was allegedly living in Bangalore with a mistress, leaving his wife and children at Garvale. He was recently caught by Kodagu police in Bangalore on charges of smuggling. He was wanted in many other cases like smuggling and attempt to murder cases. He came out of the jail last week and went to Garvale to stay with his wife and children. He was continuosly raising quarrel and it went out of control yesterday night. He alleged that his wife has illicit connection with a neighbor Kashi. He beat his wife and rushed to the house of Kashi with a billhook. While Paapanna was bashing the front door, Kashi sent his wife and children out from the back door and opened the front door holding a double barrel gun. He opened fire at Paapanna and one side of his face splashed out in seconds. He fell on the ground, wreathing in pain. His son, Milan who had lost temper after his mother was beaten arrived at the spot with another gun and shot at his fathers chest. Later, the duo loaded the dead body into their jeep and drove to Madapur police station and surrendered before police. The accused are remanded to judicial custody. OPERATION TIGER BEGINS;Madikeri March 17, 2008 The much demanded ‘operation tiger’ to capture the tiger killing dozens of live stock in South Kodagu has begun yesterday. A Band of thirty forest staff led by Range Forest Officers Nagaraj, Nagaraj, Ravindra, Narasimha Shet and ACFO Laxmana began to roam round the forests around T.Shettigeri. The team is following the pug marks has discovered the place where the tiger used to sleep. It has also witnessed stocks of carcass of its kills. Cage to capture tiger is being shifted from place to place. Meanwhile, Dr.Srinivas has also arrived to administer tranquilizer. He is not accompanying the team stating that he will tranquilize it after they catch tiger. TIBETANS OPPOSE CHINA AGGRESSION;The monks living in Bylakuppe rehabilitation centre are conducting regular protest meetings against the aggression by China against Tibetans living in Tibet. The chief priests of all the monasteries are addressing the gatherings. They have wowed not to give up their protest against China and said that they will get independence one or the other day. Homage was paid to those who were killed by China government in the recent riot. DYFI HOLDS PROTESTThe leaders of the DYFI in the district held a ‘DC office Chalo” protest today. District secretary P.R.Bharath said that poor and downtrodden are living without any basic facilities. They do not have land or those who have houses are not issued with records. They are denied of electricity and water facilities. The protest is organized to demand facilities. State Gram Panchayath association president Maruthi, DYFI state secretary Sunilkumar Bajal and others took part in the protest and addressed the gathering. The speakers also said that daliths are being attacked in public and police stations. They gave the instance of an attack by BJP workers at karike and at Murnad police station. A memorandum was submitted to police. |
