SUB INSPECTOR RE INSTATEDMadikeri March 20, 2008 The sub inspector suspended in connection with an attack and life threatening is reinstated. Superintendent of police Sandip Patil told here that he has received a direction from the DIGs office to reinstate him, yesterday night, the 19th. Santosh was suspended after the BAR council, Virajpet lodged a complaint and began to boycott court proceedings alleging assault and life threat against an advocate Vinu Pemmaiah recently. Santosh was suspended consequently. Different organizations began to protest the suspension and an indefinite protest, fast unto death had begun yesterday. Superintendent of police had met the protestors yesterday and had said that a positive action would be taken about the suspension. Advocate Vinu Pemmaiah and few others had allegedly trespassed into an estate and kidnapped a family of laborers. A case of life threat, molestation and life threatening was booked against them. Peemmaiah was taken to Siddapur police station in connection with this. He is still under judicial custody. PEDESTRIAN DIES IN ACCIDENT;A pedestrian was killed in a road accident yesterday the 19th at Bylakuppe. A Maruthi car hit a 65 year old Ramegowda near Kundahalli of Bylakuppe and he died on the spot in the evening. The enraged villagers blocked the traffic for quite sometime after the incident and pelted stones at the passing vehicles. Mysore police arrived at the spot and brought the situation under control. DALITHS TO HOLD PROTEST;Members of the dalith sangarsh Samity will hold protest before Devarapura gram Panchayath to demad basic facilities. District convener Govindappa stated in a press conference that Daliths are denied of basic facilities and the schemes and projects formulated by the government are not reaching them. Taluk convenor jagadish spoke on the occasion and said that the Gram Panchayaths should implement the schemes immediately or get ready to face severe protests. They addressed a press conference here yesterday the 19th. EDITOR ARRESTED;A.C.Cariappa, editor of a weekly magazine “Veeranadu” was arrested by police yesterday on charges of attempt to molest and threatening. Zilla Panchayath employee, Janaki had lodged a complaint with the police stating that Cariappa tried to molest her and threatened her life in the office premises. She had lodged a second complaint alleging that he had published derogatory statements again in his weekly defaming her modesty. Janaki was allegedly involved in a misappropriation case in the ZP and Cariappa had been to her office to enquire about the allegation. He is sent to judicial custody. CNC TO HOLD PROTEST IN BANGALORE;The Codava national Council will hold a protest in Bangalore on 21st to place its demands before the government. Addressing a press conference here yesterday, president of the CNC, N.U.nachappa stated that they will hold protest before the Gandhi statue in Bangalore. They are demanding constitutional guarantee to Kodavas, declaration of 45 main villages (Naad) of Kodagu as land of Kodava origin in the lines of Darjeeling and Goorka land and others. Pullera Kalappa and Chambanda Janathkumar were also present in the press conference. |
