DELEGATION TO MEET RAHUL GANDHIMadikeri March 21, 2008 A delegation of Karnataka Planters Association and Planters federation is meeting AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi today at New Delhi. The delegation will discuss the problems being faced by coffee industry in Karnataka and urge the central government to come out with a permanent solution. General Secretary of the KPF, H.T.Mohan Kumar has said that they have already spoken to the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, AICC president Mrs. Sonia Gandhi, Commerce minister Kamalnath, Oscar Fernandez MP Prema Cariappa, MP Dr.M.S.Swamynathan and others. He informed in a press note that Mrs.Sonia Gandhi has already assured to hold a meeting with the Prime Minister and the other concerned to discus the issue. The delegation is also stressing the implementation of all the subsidies and schemes announced in the recent budget. KLADCHA FESTIVAL HELD;The famous Kaladcha festival was held at Paadi Igguthappa temple yesterday the 20th in Napoklu. The day long rituals and pooja was witnessed by pios devotees. Tulabara, “Etthporata” and other rituals attracted the devotees. Hundreds took part in the festival. Photo: Paadi festival FAST UNTO DEATH CALLED OFF;Different organizations holding fast unto death protest demanding reinstation of the suspended sub inspector santosh called off the protest yesterday the 20th. The protestors were met by the superintendent of police sandip patil who informed that the SI was already reinstated. But the leaders demanded that the SI be posted to Siddapur Police station only. Sandip Patil said that he cannot be posted there at the moment as the enquiry is still in progress. Santosh, who was reinstated just a day before is posted to district Crime Branch. Meanwhile, three persons who were on fasting have become ill and are shifted to hospital for treatment. RS.25 CRORE FOR MAKUTTA ROADThe state government has released rupees twenty five crores to repair the Makutta –kerala road. The decision was taken in a meeting held by the Governor yesterday after he held a meeting with the officials concerned. The 16.5 KM Makutta road bordering Kodagu and Kerala is in a highly dilapidated condition and non motorable. |
