POLICE SPOIL KIDNAP BID; THREE UNDER ARREST; MYSORE BOY RESCUED;Madikeri February 2, 2009 A trio who kidnapped a boy from Mysore and began to demand rupees three crore for the release was round ed up by Kodagu police and the boy was rescued. Three lads, Prajwal nagaraj and Mohan Babu from Bangalore and Puttaswamy from Somwarpet all aged 23 and working in call centers at Bangalore lifted a nine year old Mohammed Muthalib from Mysore on Saturday evening as he was returning from prayer from a Mosque. He was driven to Bangalore in their Santro car. The parents were called from kengeri and a demand for rupees three crores was placed. The trio drove the boy down to kushalnagar and stayed in a lodge. Yesterday he was brought to madikeri and they began calling from coin booths for the ransom. Mysore police traced the end point and police at madikeri was alerted. The boys father also contacted his relatives at madikeri. As a co incident, publice here noticed a Santro running around suspiciously.A merchant Atiff gave chase to the car and the car zoomed away towards Sunticoppa. Auto drivers and public tried to stop it as they were alerted. The accused drove towards Chettalli in a small road and got blocked by Chettalli public. The trio abandoned the car with the boy and ran away. However police and public succeeded in capturing them by night fall. Superintendent of Police suresh Kumar told in a press conference at night that the trio belong to well known families and are working in call centers. Accused Nagaraj basically belongs to Mysore. Yet to complete graduation. Workingin a call centre and bought the car recently. His marriage is fixed. He has planned the kidnap. Second accused Mohan Babu is the son of an ex army officer. A B.com dropout. Married and his wife is earning rupees twenty thousand. He is working in the call center. Third accused Rakesh is related to Nagaraj and hails from Somwarpet in Kodagu. He was offered rupees ten lakh if he assists in the operation. The accused were sent to judicial custody. MUTHALIK TO BE PRODUCED AT VIRAJPET COURT Sree Rama Sena supreme, Pramod Muthalik would be produced before Virajpet court today on charges of making provocative speeches during 2003 at Gonicoppal. Muthalik was brought to Madikeri jail from Mangalore on the night of Saturday with a body warrant. His advocate Kulkarni stated that he is not feeling well and hence shifted to madikeri hospital. Talking to this correspondent from the hospital cell, Muthalik told that he is happy that the Sene is getting recognition from all over after the Pub attack. Though he said that he regrets the attack, he asked whether the parents of the girls inside the pub enjoy the culture their children are following? Sene will continue its fight against the onslaughts onculture and will change its modus operandi. He said that the workers are not depressed due to the arrests and rather encouraged to continue their goals as their leaders are also under arrest. POLIO ACHIEVES 86.11% SUCCESS Polio immunization in the district will achieve 86.11 % . A total of 46,941 children were administered polio drops in Kodagu. A priest, Mukri and a church father were invited to the district hospital yesterday to inaugurate the polio programme. ADDRESSING THE GATHERING, Deputy Commissioner Baladevakrishna said that the religious heads were invited for inauguration to see that the disease gets eradicated with the Divine help too. DC lambasted the district surgeon Dr.Ajith who was not in station. He said that he will lodge a complaint with the state health chiefs as the district surgeon should have been in station for a national programme. Ratary Misty Hills distributed free food to the booth agents around Madikeri and arranged transport. |
