YOUNG PAIR OF DEER DIES

A young pair of deer met with a tragic death at a farm at Kudige near Kushalnagar yesterday.

According to forest sleuths the pair escaped from the adjacent forest and tried to enter the agriculture land of one Nagaraj. Nagaraj had laid a trap to capture wild animals. One deer got caught while another entered the land. The dogs belonging to nagaraj attacked the innocent animals and feasted over them.

Public and forest sleuths who visited the area witnessed the carcass. The department buried the carcass and a case is registered. The officers stated that the department has done solar fencing around the forest and they wondered how the young pair of deer escaped from there.

BOPAIAH CALLS FOR THE SUCCESS OF JURNOS CONFERENCE

Deputy Speaker K.G.Bopaiah has called upon the officials and organizations in Kodagu to work for the success of state level journalists association to be held at Madikeri on this 21st and 22nd.

Addressing a special meeting conducted here yesterday, Bopaiah, who is also the president of the welcome committee said that around two thousand delegates will take part in the conference and it is an opportunity for the people of Kodagu exhibit the culture and hospitality.

Chief convenor of the conference, B.G.Anantha Shayana informed that the chief minister would inaugurate the conference on 21st and H.D.Kumarswamy, H.D.Devegowda, R.V.Deshpande and other dignitaries will take part in the valedictory function.

Head Quarters Assistant Chikkathammaiah called upon the officials to extend co operation. He said that it is the responsibility of the district to see that the conference succeeds.

Journalists association president C.N.Somesh, director H.T.Anil spoke on the occasion.

MADIKERI TO GET SHAPE BEFORE MONSOON;

President of the CMC, P.D.Ponnappa told that Madikeri will be brought to shape from its dilapidated roads and drains before monsoon.

Addressing a press conference, he said that concrete roads would be formed at the industrial estate, Tyagarajanagar, Indiranagar and Ram Mandir road from Mangerira Muthanna circle would be concretized.

Answering a query, Ponnappa said that there is no truth in the allegations of opposition members about ignoring the development of certain areas. He however said that an enquiry would be conducted to verify the allegations that funds were misappropriated in the works taken up after 2006, when he was not in power.

He explained that five tankers are kept ready to supply drinking water to the town during acute shortage and an underground entrance to government bustand will also be built.

Ponnappa said that the shops belonging to CMC in the town would be re auctioned and the court has also Okayed it. He alleged that the opposition members, hand in glove with the shop owners are objecting to re auctioning. He informed that the CMC is getting only rupees 94 thousand as rent at present and it can fetch at least rupees four lakh per month with revised auctioning.

AMMATHI GETTING SET FOR FAMILY HOCKEY;

The Mandepanda family is all set to host family hockey

Addressing a press conference, the family heads told here that the ground work is in progress to conduct the Hockey starting from April second week to May 11. About 300 families will take part in the hockey.

A gallery to house 30000 people will be built and the entry fee is also reduced from rupees 750 to 550. Coffee day will be the main sposorer and the chief minister has also promised to release rupees ten lakh, the organizers informed.

President M.B.Appaiah,working president nanda Appaiah, vice president M.K.Appaiah,vice presidents M.K.Appaiah, M.A.Uthappa and M.P.Suja Kushalappasecretary M.M.Vishwanath are in the lead.
