SECOND OPERATION BEGINS TO CAPTURE ELEPHANTSMadikeri February 6, 2009 After capturing five elephants in Dubare – Siddapur range, forest department has begun its second operation in Aadinadur forest range in Somwarpet taluk. The department has secured permission from the central government to capture the elephants. Two female pachyderms are identified to be dangerous, causing damage to human ife and crops in the range and they will be caught in a day or two, according to officials involved in the operation. The range forest officer Dayanand told that the captured elephants would be transported to Dubare elephant camp. The herd of tamed elephants, led by ‘Abhimanyu’ have begun to look for the knotty duo. JAMMA LAND RECORDS SET RIGHTThe assistant commissioner Akram Pasha has said that his office has so far solved 926 cases of Jamma land and provided records of right to its owners. He has informed that the controvercial jamma land right issue found light after the decision of the government during last year. He has cleared all the files which had come to his office and about 2500 acres of land now has records legalizing the ownership. The ownership issue had raised enough heat and dust during last year as the government had barred any right to owners of jamma land. They were not unable to raise loan even to cultivate the land nor could they sell it. Later, the chief minister B.S.Yediyurappa cancelled the earlier orders and instructed the district YOUTH CONGRESS WARNS OF JAIL BHAROThe district youth congress has warned that it will hold jail bharo protest if the BJP sponsored anti terrorism rally by ABVP is allowed to take place. Youth congress president Dharmaja Uthappa has said in a press conference here that the BJP government is safronizing the state with its disruptive activities. He informed that the party held a informal protest yesterday and a memorandum was submitted to the Deputy commissioner. He condemned the attack on state youth congress leaders during the protest rally. Dharmaja Uthappa urged that the governor should block this rally. In case of the failure, the youth congress will hold jail bharo protest, he informed. JURNOS PRESIDENT THREATENEDPresident of the district journalists association, C.N.Somesh has received life threat from a Kushalnagar based merchant M.K.Dinesh. In a complaint to the superintendent of police Somesh has said that Dinesh called him on his mobile and threatened him. Police are investigating. CALL TO PROTECT HINDUISMA rally organized at Madikeri yesterday called upon the Hindus to protect their religion. Inaugurating the function, the VHP secretary from Sullya, Dr.Balasubrahmanya Bhat said that the Hinduism is being pushed towards danger by minorities and it should be protected. He said that only Hinduism backed by its timeless culture considers all as one and it should be strengthened and protected through determination. He lamented against conversion and opined that the people are now giving more prominence to financial strength than the strength of quality. Speaking about the pub attack, he said that the media has wrongly projected the incident as an attack on women. But it was an attack on few girls dancing in the pub and not women in large. Chandrahasa and Guruprasad representing different Hindu sectors addressed the gathering and condemned terrorism and called upon Hindus to unite together. |
