EMPLOYEES QUARTERS IN A DILAPIDATED CONDITION

Madikeri February 10

Fourth class employees’ quarters at Virajpet hospital is in a dilapidated condition. The employees complain that they are forced to live outside as the building is not repaired since years and is left to collapse without any repair work.

The building attached to the hospital belongs to health department. It’s an irony that the hospital was renovated at a cost of rupees five crores. The hospital building along with the nurse quarters was also rebuilt and infrastructures developed.

The employee who does hospital cleaning has urged the department to repair the building. Presently, the abandoned quarters have become a haven for anti social activities.

BJP BUZY ONLY IN PROPAGANDA

The BJP government in state is busy only in propaganda making and not in service, alleged DCC president Veena Achaiah.

Addressing a press conference here, the president of the district congress Committee said that only statements about releasing crores of rupees for development was seen and no

Project has come up in reality. She alleged that Kodagu is completely neglected by the state.

Veena Achaiah listed out the major problems haunting Kodagu. The confusion about the roads at Kadamakal and Kootiyala could not be cleared by the government, she accused. Yediyurappa had promised to solve the major problems of Kodagu in twenty four hours, if he was elected to power, but he broke his promise and did nothing, she said.

Veena alleged that the state government is instilling communal hatred in the minds of youth by organizing awareness in the name of terrorism.

Vice president of the DCC, B.S.Thammaiah alleged that the deputy speaker K.G.Bopaiah is spending more time at Madikeri than his constituency, Virajpet. He is ignoring his own constituency, he opined. BJP MLAs are indulging in timber smuggling, he alleged. Office bearers V.K.Gurulingaiah, V.P.Suresh, Smt.Bangera were present.

CROCODILE KILLS COW

In a rare incident of its kind in Kodagu, a cow became victim of a crocodile yesterday.

The incident was reported from Kanive near Kushalnagar. A cow belonging to one Chandrashekar put his mouth into Cauvery river to drink water. A crocodile attacked the cow in a lightening speed. Attempts to escape from its clutch failed and the cow fell dead with deep injuries.

The residents who were not aware of the presence of the crocodile so far in the region are now afraid of it. Ladies usually would enter the river to wash cloths while youth would swim in the water to escape from the heat.
