CALL FOR KODAGU BANDH BY SECULAR FRONT

OPPOSE TO BANDH CALL BY OTHER ORGANISAIONS

Madikeri Jan.14:Bandh call on 15th Jan from 6 A.M. to 12 P.M is given. by the recently formed district secular front .The reason given:- recently a scuffle between two Z.P members led to complaint. An ST member Rajarao complained against V.P.Shashidhar that he had manhandled him in Z.P.committee meeting. Shashidhar was arrested on atrocity act and still he is in judicial custody. The secular front opposed this arrest and opined that gap is widening between daliths and upper caste people and the atrocity act should be withdrawn. The front convener Nervanda Umesh has called for Kodagu Bandh on 15th to emphasis the release of the arrested person. Advocates Vidyadhar and Kunhi Abdullah also supported this in a press statement.

The Kodagu district Chamber of commerce and Industry has opposed the bandh call. In a press statement its’ president Girish Ganapathi and general secretary G.Chidvilas opined that the cause pertains to an individual and narrates rift between two political forces. Chamber will not support the bandh for these individual matters. The organization has suggested to settle the things amicably instead of disturbing the routine goings in the district.

Kodagu district BJP has opposed the bandh call. The district president Sunil Subramani in a statement has said that the politician A.K.Subbaiah is trying to turn the opportunity for his political stunt. District B.J.P. president Sunil Subramani,Legislative members K.G.Bopaiah, Appachu Ranjan and S.G.Medappa and others requested the people not to support the bandh call.

The dalith organization have also opposed the bandh call. In a press conference, the district ST,SC committee president M.P.Honnappa,,Somwarpet thaluk president H.B.Kushalappa,Dr. Ambedkar association president H.S.Vijayakumar criticized the secular front for its’ partiality attitude .Codava national Council,District bhajrangdal.Dalith Sangharsha committee (Krishnappa),Vishwa Hindu Parishath,Somwarpet thaluk BJP unit,Madikeri Deshapremei youth association,,Madikerit thaluk BJP unit, have opposed the bandh call.
