LADY COPS TO CONTROL TRAFFIC!

The district police have included two female cops into Traffic police unit.

The only traffic police station in Kodagu at Madikeri has the credit of having first women cops to monitor traffic.

Superintendent of police , Suresh told this correspondent that he is planning to post women constables to all the police stations to monitor traffic. He said that the departmental heads were requested to sanction traffic police stations to few more places like Kushalnagar and south Kodagu. Even if the sanctioning takes time, the lady police would be posted to ensure smooth traffic, he said.

He disclosed that it is now compulsory to appoint ten percent ladies during appointments. He informed that four ladies were selected recently while appointing forty cops to the district. The new recruits are undergoing training, he said.


TUSKER TRAMPLES OLD MAN

An old man aged eighty was trampled to death by a tusker.

The incident was reported yesterday at Thithimathi. Kaala, 80 had been to forest to grace his cows during time and a tusker came at a lightening speed from inside and trampled him. He was tossed around by the beast and killed on the spot.

Forest officials and villagers visited the spot.

COMMITTS SUICIDE AT 74

An old woman aged 74 has committed suicide at Madapatna near Kushalnagar yesterday morning.

Ammaniyamma, 74 set herself ablaze by pouring kerocene when nobody was at home. She is living with her daughter and son in law. Her only son is living in America.

She committed suicide in the morning as the family left the house to drop their children to school.

Police have registered a case and reason for the death is not known.
