STATE DIRECTS DISTRICT TO STOP ROAD CONSTRUCTIONMadikeri Jan. 18: The state environment and bio technology department has stayed the construction of controversial road passing through Kootiala bridge in Brahmagiri reserve forest belt. Out of total 21 K,ms of road 15 k,.ms are completed through PWD department. From 15 to 15.60 k,ms road has to be formed through wildlife belt. The forest department has objected to form the road and informed to get the permission from the central environmental department before going for the continuation of the road. Meanwhile during last month’s KDP meeting the M.P. Sadananda Gowda had instructed the district administration to go ahead with the work ignoring the forest department’s objections. He had instructed to form both Kadamakal-Subramanya road in Madikeri thaluk and Kootiala road in South Kodagu which benefits the mass and the local villagers to reach the necessary places in short distances. As per the instructions the district administration and the local M.L.A’s with the support of local villages have constructed the Kadamakal-Subramnya road on Last Dec. 28th. When they were planning to form the road at Kootiala ,in South Kodagu they are shocked to get the stay from the concerned department .The principal secretary of the department has instructed the deputy commissioner not to continue the work passing through the wildlife range which will lead to breaking of restrictions passed by the supreme court of India under forest act. The department has mentioned the name of Air Marshal K.C.Cariappa (Retd), the son of Late field marshal Cariappa as a complainant to the department who has mentioned the move by the district administration to construct the road as illegal. DEPARTMENT RUNNIN WITHOUT SALARY!Madikeri Jan.18: One of the Govt. departments is running without salary to its’ employees! This is a wonder created by the present Govt. Integral tribes development project (ITDP) department has no sanctions or release from the state Govt. to distribute salaries to its’ employees since seven months. The department directly comes under Zilla Panchayath. The department has the main responsibility of supervising the tribal hostels meant for tribal students in rural areas. Other development projects for the benefit of tribes has also became standstill without any sanctions from the Govt. As per the information same problem could be scene in the department statewide. Total Rs. 25 lakh scarcity of fund arised in the department and the concerned officer L.J.Ghanti has presented the problem before the senior state officers during a meeting held at Bangalore on the 12th.But still no remedy announced. The amount should be sanctioned in state level through Link document scheme which has not been sanctioned for the 2008-09 year budget. |
