POLICE ARREST NOTED THIEF

Madikeri January

Kodagu police have arrested a noted thief and recovered jewelry worth rupees seven lakhs.

Superintendent of police, Suresh told scribes that a resident of Bellary, M.S.Prakash was caught at Madikeri and jewelry worth rupees seven lakhs was recovered from him. He informed that the accused was involved in stealing and house breaks at Sakleshpur, Kushalnagar and Hassan district. He was found hiding inside a bush at Madikeri by public who informed the police.

The investigations revealed that the accused was attempting to break a house at Madikeri. He had sold the stolen jewelry to shops at Hunsur, Davanagere, Mudigere and other places.

The team of district crime branch police under the guidance of SP and DYsP Prakash recovered the sold jewels from shops. A case is registered and the accused is sent to judicial custody.

CNC OBSERVES 26TH AS BLACK DAY;

The Codava National Council celebrated republic day as a ‘black day’ by holding a protest.

Led by its president N.U.Nachappa, the CNC members protested before the Deputy Commissoners office. Nachappa said that the meaning of Republic is incomplete when Kodavas do not have their own land.

Nachappa is demanding constitutional guarantee to Kodavas and declare the original lands as Kodava land and provide autonomy.

A memorandum was submitted to Deputy Commissoner Baladeva Krishna.

THREAT TO BOYCOT ELECTION;

Former member of the Zilla panchayath and leader of the Budakattu Krishikara Sanga, R.K.Chandru has warned the government that the Tribes will boycott the next election, if the government fails to provide them with basic facilities.

Addressing press at Kushalnagar, he said that the political leaders have been failing to keep up their promises and ignore their interests.

Chandru listed out the grievances like protestion and development of Western Ghat, implementation of right to Tribes residing in the forest, priority to tribes culture and Tulu language etc.
